Purpose of the role:

Working as part of a small team, this role will contribute to processing the UK payroll in a timely and accurate manner.

Key responsibilities and duties:

  • End to end processing of UK payroll including data collation, input, and reporting.
  • Process all paperwork associated with employment changes and variations to contracts and maintain accuracy of the payroll system data. 
  • Prepare payroll data in readiness for internal and external audits.
  • Accurately maintain the payroll and time and attendance systems.
  • Answer queries from staff regarding payroll and time and attendance. 
  • Processing payroll benefits in kind, prepare P11Ds and PAYE Settlement Agreement returns where there is a requirement.
  • Adherence to our Quality Management Systems (QMS), Safety Management Systems (SMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and all associated Business Manuals.

Competencies:

  • Experience working in a busy office environment and working to tight deadlines.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Understanding of the requirements of GDPR when handling data.
  • Basic payroll knowledge is required, but advanced training will be provided on the job.

Personal attributes:

  • Excellent attention to detail to ensure accuracy of payroll payments at all times.
  • Organised and methodical working style with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Strong aptitude for learning new software and systems.
  • Strong communication skills over the phone, via email and face to face.
  • High numerical literacy with the ability to carry out complex calculations.
  • Willingness to learn and develop advanced payroll and related skills.
  • Trustworthy and able to work with high volumes of confidential data.
  • Flexibility with hours and peak periods of work.

Professional Qualifications/Education and Training:

  • A professional qualification in payroll administration would be an advantage but is not required.
