Senior Branding Specialist

About the role

As a Senior Branding Specialist, you will be responsible for managing all visual design related activities from product development, industrial design, interiors, packaging graphics and branding. You will also develop internal brand solutions and create design solutions for all Product Development initiatives. You will work with cross functional teams and key stakeholders within the airline and suppliers to understand product and branding requirements and convert these to appropriate design briefs and solutions, while ensuring that all design and branding initiatives are aligned with Qatar Airways group Marketing and Corporate Strategy for the present and future.

Other key responsibilities are:

• Develop design and branding for new products as per requirements based on departmental and Line Manager’s Directives.
• Develop various design solutions and strategies by assessing previous hurdles and developing “work around strategies” in order to mitigate development snags, complications and difficulties faced during product development
• Evaluate current products from design perspectives within Qatar Airways specific to service delivery, design and ensure feasibility in optimizing the same in order to enhance its functionality.
• Managing the overall design process, including planning, scheduling, managing workflow, and ensuring adherence to standards
• Managing and developing design specialists and design officers who are involved in the project
• Managing project budgets against planned spending
• Communicating with  suppliers and other stakeholders to update them on project status
• Communicating with team members to ensure they are meeting deadlines, resolving issues, and following procedures
• Reviewing designs to ensure they meet brand strategy and objectives, and follows industry standards and specifications
• Understand and evaluate critical operational requirements through end user feedback, service requirements and functionality to develop product specification and design brief documents
• Guide the design team and maintain awareness of current design trends and influences with competitor airlines and benchmark the same by employing colours, typography, illustration, photography, various print and layout techniques when designing for assigned projects.
• Manage design project developments from conception to completion with mandatory product testing phases with the user departments prior to implementation.
• Support and guide the design team in the evaluation and testing of products in order to assess product feasibility and practicality.
• Develop and manage project plans and best practice design processes to ensure cohesive and sound work practices that drive creativity whilst minimising development and production cost.
• Ensure positive collaboration to smooth out production hurdles by staying in close contact with internal clients’ teams.
• Responsible for the final quality of creative work, including seeking approvals from relevant departments prior to roll-out of the developed product.
• Manage work within tight deadlines, reviewing and updating project plans based on changes in scope or schedule, ensuring that the project stays on track, and that the team of designers complete their work on time while also operating in the most efficient way possible by being pro-active and well- organised.
• Work in parallel with Manager Equipment Development on timeline and relevant requirements for products to be tendered.
• Perform other department duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of the Department

About You

• We are looking for a passionate and experienced professional to join the Product Development Team.
• Complete understanding of product design processes, technologies and design theory.
• Ability to multi-task and adhere to deadlines.
• Excellent knowledge all industry standard design tools for 2D and 3D visualisation.
• Experience in applying theories related to colour, materials, layout, product engineering, graphics, textiles and various visual communication techniques.
• Love design and passion for learning.
• Managerial skills - Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow. Strong mentoring and coaching skills. 
• Ability to train and develop subordinates skills. Ability to foster teamwork among team members.
