Job Description:

What Youll Get to Do
Reporting directly to the Avionics Manager and taking direction from the Base Engineer and on-shift Crew Chief, an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Apprentice (Avionics) assists the licensed AME with the maintenance, service, inspection, and diagnostics of Aircraft engines (including propellers and rotors). This also includes electrical systems, components, and accessories on the aircraft.

  • Testing, repairs, and recertification of various avionics components
  • Repair/calibration of Avionics components
  • Follow all procedures necessary for maintenance or repairs to the aircraft and equipment 
  • Carry out line and heavy maintenance 
  • Interpret technical drawings as required
  • Handle daily flight snags 
  • General duties related to hangar and equipment upkeep 
  • De-icing duties as required
  • Maintain all Calm Air assigned training required within job role 
  • Participation in the Safety Management System
  • Participate in the planning and installation of aircraft mods and repairs
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Maintain all assigned training required within job role
  • Must always comply with all safety regulations and procedures
  • Support GSE Repairs and Servicing as required 
  • Other duties as assigned

Hours of Work

  • Shift work is required and may include mornings/afternoons, evenings, nights, and weekends

Skills & Experience We Value

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) an asset
  • Candidates must be graduates of an accredited aviation program  
  • Must provide proof of completion of approved training in the form of a diploma with valid TCCA approval number 
  • Basic Computer skills (word, excel, office)
  • Knowledge of an airline’s operations an asset
  • Ability to prioritize tasks
  • Must be able to work independently or in a team setting
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Travel may be required
  • Ability to lift 75lbs 
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Enhanced Security Clearance qualification
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an applicable AVOP 
  • Inuktitut language considered an asset
  • Preference given to Inuit Land Claims beneficiaries
