Position Summary:


Avionics Technicians are responsible to the Avionics Supervisor and shall assure that the procedure outlined in the repair station manual as well as all FAA Regulations and manufacturer’s instructions are complied with. In addition to all responsibilities listed below, work involves the responsibility of performing routine maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, modification of aircraft systems, and installations. In addition, component removal and reinstallation, operational checks, and leak checks are all within the responsibility of the avionics technician. The avionics technician is responsible for using sound judgment and technical aptitude to make decisions regarding maintenance, sequence, and techniques, troubleshooting and discrepancy resolution.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all repairs are accomplished by approved methods and techniques and in accordance with the specifications set forth by the manufacturer in the service manuals, the Federal Aviation Regulations, service bulletins, and airworthiness directives and other data approved by the FAA administrator.
  • Responsible for following the coordinated activities of their shop or area, so as to minimize delays and increase production and efficiency. 
  • Ensure that all work accomplished will be completed in strict accordance with the manufacturer’s maintenance and repair instructions and TITLE 14 CFR part 43.
  • Exercise all reasonable care to protect all parts-sub assembles; major assembles and completed units against loss or damage.
  • Ensure that all applicable repair station forms utilized are properly completed.
  • Ensure good housekeeping rules are observed and that all shop-working areas are kept clean and orderly at all times.
  • Ensure that proper tools and equipment are available, and those tools are maintained in serviceable condition and ensure that any tool which is found unserviceable for any reason will be removed from service. The technician will be responsible for good housekeeping and will ensure that housing and facilities and safety precautions are adequate.
  • Ensure proper handling of parts and the preservation of all units or parts during the work process through the maintenance department.
  • Required to be thoroughly familiar with the requirements of the repair station manual, FAA Regulations, Airworthiness Directives and Advisory Circulars, Manufactures Service Letters/Bulletins and engineering orders.
  • Communicates with the avionics supervisor concerning progress of the assigned work.
  • Perform airframe electrical, avionics repairs, inspections, installations and modifications.
  • Removal and disassembly of defective parts, assembly and installation of replacement parts and testing of system.
  • Interpret technical manuals, drawings and blueprints.
  • Ensure that all discrepancies are signed off with all the information completed, such as part numbers, maintenance manual, ATA and Chapter, etc…
  • Displays and promotes a positive attitude toward work and other employees.
  • Use experience and technical expertise to assist when necessary to meet completion and production schedules and produce the quality our company has come to expect.
  • Assure that all safety precautions are taken and that available protection devices are properly used at all times when applicable to the tasks performed, in order to reduce the risk of possible injury and health problems resulting from performing assigned tasks.
  • Technicians shall have all their work inspected (except for off-site repairs, see off-site maintenance requirements) by an appropriately rated inspector as listed on the “Roster of Management Supervisory and Inspection Personnel” at the completion of each task.
  • Participates with management to strategize and implement new maintenance tactics.
  • Provide leadership and communication to other fellow employees.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

  • Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.

Environmental Conditions:

  • Industrial/Hangar environment.

Minimum Education Requirement:

  • Must have High School Diploma or GED
  • Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate (preferred)
  • Federal Communication Commission (FCC) License (optional)
  • Two or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum Work Experience Requirement:

  • Strong understanding in 145 repair station operations/regulations required.
  • Two or more years demonstrated experience in aircraft avionics installations and repairs.

Other Requirements:

  • Clean driving record.
  • Able to pass a background check.
  • Ability to pass a drug screening test.

  • Overall knowledge of aircraft that are worked by this location.
