What you can expect as an AOG Avionics Technician at West Star:

The Avionics AOG Technician will report to the Avionics Mobile Satellite Manager.  Avionics AOG Technicians will be responsible for completing time-sensitive aircraft repairs in the field. This position requires the technician to display a professional demeanor and project this atmosphere to our customers while working in sometimes unfamiliar locations throughout our region. This challenging position is key to providing our customers with the same exceptional service they are accustomed to wherever their aircraft may be while working with minimal supervision. Must be available to work in the Scottsdale, Arizona area.  

 

You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS including:

  • Perform Avionics/Electrical AOG maintenance on a variety of corporate and general aviation aircraft.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, tests, removes and replaces Avionics and Electrical systems components using various test equipment and technical documents. 
  • Performs aircraft avionic systems and components inspections.
  • Experienced with performing FAR 91.411, FAR 91.413, RVSM and ADS-B tests and inspections using pitot-static and ATC transponder test equipment.
  • Excellent analytical, attention-to-detail, troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Effectively communicate with Customers (customer liaison), WSA management and control center personnel concerning any job-related issues.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and deliver satisfaction to the internal/external customer.
  • Perform all maintenance IAW FAA approved technical data and the WSA certified repair station manual..
  • Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English
  • Basic computer skills to be able to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance data bases

 

What you’ll need to bring with you:

 

Your Education:

A High school diploma or equivalent as well as a A&P license is required. A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal.

 

You Experience:

The successful candidate for this position will hold a valid A&P certificate and have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience providing maintenance on one of the following aircraft:

Embraer Phenom 100 & 300

Embraer Legacy/Prator 

Hawker 800/900

Cessna Citation Series

Dassault Falcon

Bombardier Challenger 350/650

Bombardier Global 5000/6000

King Air

 

Your Initiative:   

We’re looking for team players who are self-motivated and able to perform in a fast paced environment where working under specific deadlines and time constraints will be common. You must be able to perform repairs effectively and quickly in short notice, high-pressure situations.

 

Your Sense of Responsibility:      

Attend work every day as scheduled to include overtime and weekend assignments. 

Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.

Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day. 

Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.

Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.

Maintain customer oriented work habits.

 

Other particulars:

 

Physical Requirements                  

Lifts 70 lbs.

Routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting.

Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.

Standing for long periods of time.

Work on elevated platforms (up to 40 ft in the air) using fall protection safety gear 

Work in small restricted areas

Basic computer skills on Apple and Microsoft products especially Outlook, Word, and Excel spreadsheets

Working Conditions            

Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations from very cold to very hot.                       

Work outside during aircraft runs will occur.

Varied positions in and around the aircraft.

Travel to locations, in all weather conditions, to perform repairs

Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.

Pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment.

Jacks, stands, lifts and other support devices.

Tugs, power carts and other engine powered equipment.          

Crimpers, soldering iron and heat guns.

Personal computer and work order prints
