The Boeing India Engineering and Technology Center (BIETC) is looking for highly-motivated Software Engineering Manager, leading embedded software development team in India.  
The hired candidate responsibility will be
• Manage a team of software engineers to develop, test, maintain and improve software
• Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Software and System Engineering
• Develops project or operational plans aligned with department's objectives. Implements plans to ensure business, technical and customer requirements are achieved. Assigns authority and responsibilities to employees to execute the plan. Reviews plans' execution, makes appropriate adjustments, and resolves issues. Monitors appropriate metrics to ensure performance to plan.
• Forecasts resource needs and makes hiring decisions. Coaches, counsels, mentors and provides developmental opportunities and job assignments to enhance employee performance and expand capabilities. Ensures employees are working effectively with all development teams. Provides on-going developmental feedback. Enforces company rules and policies regarding ethical behavior, safety, security, use of company property, time charging, etc.
• Provides technical direction and guidance to team regarding approved processes, tools, technology and skills for own projects or processes. Communicates the development processes (including Iterative and Agile) to employees, as well as the role of the software and system engineers in these processes. Ensures workgroup products or processes meet customer, company, quality, industry and regulatory requirements. Provides approval of workgroup technical approaches, products and processes.
• To partner and engage with internal and external stakeholders, maintain relationships/partnerships with internal customers, peers and partners to develop strategies, goals and objectives that are consistent with the organization’s strategy. The position will be pivotal in creating and maintaining relationships with the US-based stakeholders and working closely with those stakeholders in planning and forecasting activities of the team as well as reporting requirements from stakeholders.
• Provide periodic updates to senior management in the form of progress reports, project summaries, and other related documents.
• Must foster an innovative work environment leading to identification of opportunities for improvements in product, process, quality, and productivity. 
Skills required
• Past experience and demonstrated success in managing DO-178 B/C compliant embedded software teams working in one or more avionics related technology areas
• Has led teams working on projects using following technologies, tools and languages: Java, HTML5 Web Applications, Web Services, Service Oriented Architectures, GUI development, metadata extraction and analysis, protocol processing, desktop application frameworks, Enterprise middleware, Perl, Python, C++, C#, AJAX, relational or other databases, MYSQL, Unix, Linux, Windows, XML technologies, JavaScript, HTML5, shell scripts, Spring, MATLAB and configuration management tools.
• Should have hands on experience on working with requirements management, software management tools, change management, and configuration management tools. Example of such tools are – JIRA (Atlassian) – Agile Project Mgmt, Bitbucket – CM, Bamboo – Build Automation, SmartBear Collaborator – Peer Review, Apache Ant – Java Build Tool, Apache Tomcat – Local Web App Deployment/Debugging, Doxygen – Code Document Generation, IBM Rational DOORS – Requirements Management, Pencil – GUI Prototyping Tool
• Skilled in advising a unit regarding tasks, projects and operations. Experience leading technical software development teams of 15 or more
• Must be proficient in software development lifecycle and agile methodology.
• Skilled in coaching and mentoring staff members to meet schedules or resolve technical or operational challenges.
• Teamwork is important in this position; individual must have strong teambuilding skills. Must have demonstrated ability to accomplish results through direct reports, colleagues in other parts of Boeing, and partners, even when they are not direct reports. Ability to work well on virtual teams across multiple time-zones.
• Understands structured, iterative, and agile software development processes.
• Ability to clearly direct software engineering activities to employees to help ensure project success.
• Must be results-driven and have a strong bottom-line orientation.
• Must be flexible, with a high tolerance for organizational complexity and ability to work with partners from within Boeing and outside.
• Communication – strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to prepare comprehensive reports, proposals, Statements of Work, and connect technology to business considerations (e.g., ROI). Candidate must be fluent in English, and have expertise in using MS Office tools.
• 15+ years of experience with at least last 5 years as a people manager.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required and Master’s degree is preferred. A post graduate degree in management would be a plus but not required
• Candidates with experience in Avionics domain only.
