Job Description:

Qualification Standards:  Must meet the applicable Company and regulatory requirements and be qualified through experience, education, and in accordance with other qualification standards set forth by SOC Management

 

Line of Authority:  Reports to the SOC Manager on Duty or ATS as applicable.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Promotes and fosters a safe and secure working and operating environment.  Leadership commitment, and the promotion of safety as a core value of the company.
  2. Must read, write, fluently speak, understand, and use the English language during all flight operations.
  3. Accountable for the safe dispatch and flight following Company flights.
  4. Jointly responsible, with the Pilot-in-Command (PIC), for the pre-flight planning, delay and release of a flight in compliance with Company policy and Federal Aviation Regulations as applicable.
  5. Be thoroughly familiar with and comply with applicable federal regulations, Company manuals, forms, policies, procedures, processes, and guidance to perform their duties and responsibilities.
  6. Maintains familiarity with all current and forecast weather and NOTAMs throughout the entire area in which the aircraft will be traveling.
  7. Ensures that a flight release is properly prepared for each leg of the flight to be flown and that the appropriate signatures are on the release or annotation of verbal acceptance by the PIC.
  8. Advises Flight Crews of any adverse weather conditions or significant changes in the weather conditions along the route of flight.
  9. Monitors and records weather and NOTAMs.
  10. In the event of an accident or incident, initiates and follows the procedures outlined in the Emergency Response Program (ERP) Manual.
  11. Cancels or re dispatches a flight if, in the opinion of the Dispatcher or PIC, the flight cannot operate or continue to operate as safely as planned or released.
  12. Monitors all Company flights from origin through all intermediate stops to final destination.
  13. Issues necessary instructions and information for safe operation of all flights for which the Dispatcher is responsible.
  14. Coordinates with all departments to ensure the most efficient operation possible.
  15. Follows all abnormal and emergency procedures while maintaining operational control and keeping the SOC Manager of Duty apprised of all emergency situations.
  16. Responsible for reviewing the Qualified Local (Weather) Observer (QLO) observations for accuracy and timely reporting.
  17. Responsible for completion and filing of all necessary records of flight activity.
  18. Maintains sufficient stock of supplies and forms for the Dispatch office.
  19. Other required duties as assigned by the SOC Manager on Duty or ATS

Education and Experience:

  • Must possess dispatcher license
  • Previous dispatch experience preferred 
  • Pilot’s license preferred 
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer without sponsorship
  • Must be able to pass a Drug and Alcohol Screen, and FBI Fingerprint & 10 Year Background Check
