As an Engineering Manager, you will be using your skills and expertise to manage functional teams through program execution for our products and services. These cover a very wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems. You will represent the engineering department at all management level meetings. Youll ensure that the engineering design, documentation, and approvals meet the program schedules, are obtained in a timely manner and that engineering hours expended are productive, meeting program goals and budgets. You will own and continuously improve processes and procedures, oversee training of staff and provide technical direction as required.

Leading the Manufacturing Engineering team in preparing, conducting, and evaluating analyses for planning improvements and problem solving for manufacturing issues (production methods and procedures) in a specific function, e.g., layout, production sequence, tooling and production equipment, material fabrication, assembly/installation methods and process planning, in a Production environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Engineering interface between the program managers, customers, operations, and engineering department personnel.
  • Perform technical studies of complex nature, conduct analysis of operations (existing or proposed)and report recommendations for equipment needed and methods of manufacturing (including sequence of operations and detailed methodology of complex assemblies and installations as well as detail components).
  • Perform special projects, create new procedures, and provide technical direction as assigned.
  • Generate proposal concepts, approaches, estimates and write-ups that are clear, concise, and cost effective.
  • Be an advocate and leader in improving design for manufacturing processes and practices to conform to SNC guidelines and customer needs.
  • Guide the authoring of detailed work instructions that optimize manufacturing process efficiency and opportunity for zero defects with MfgEng Team and functional Operations Manager.
  • Guide the authoring of MBOMs in CostPoint/MES/PLM (as applicable) to ensure all parts defined by Engineering are installed during the assembly/ installation process.
  • Generate make-or-buy proposals and recommend corrective actions for areas of responsibility
  • Conduct research, investigation, and analysis in connection with assigned planning or other assigned projects, to ensure conformance to requirements.

Must-haves:

  • Bachelors of Science degree in a related discipline and typically 8 or more years of relevant technical experience
  • Understanding of engineering principles and practices
  • Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools, analysis and simulation
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a United States Secret Clearance

Preferred:

  • Experience with CATIA v5, CAMEO, Delmia Apriso MES, CostPoint (Item, Routing and MBOM creation), and ENOVIA 3DX or similar software is desired.
  • Current/Previous experience working as a Manufacturing Engineer within aviation/aerospace manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
