Within the Lifecycle Engineering team, as a lead engineer, you will lead mechanical design efforts around product durability, validation, and entry into service preparations. At this key pre-entry into service (EIS) phase of the GE9X program, it is critical that the team is well prepared to identify and execute solutions for potential durability shortfalls before EIS. In this role, you will take charge to recognize and complete validation activities, own repair substantiation efforts, support the leading indicator program and partner with product support engineering for implementation. It is with your efforts that the GE9X program will be well positioned for a predictable and reliable EIS and is well equipped to address any issues that do arise during operation.

In this role, you will have some autonomy to focus on the execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. As the services durability leader for your module, your judgement will be paramount in the success of the desired team outcomes which will require you to have the ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters with advice from your peers.

A job at this level you will work closely with cross functional partners to develop in-depth knowledge and expertise to make technically sound decisions with some level of evidence. You will act in the capacity of an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills, execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead efforts around product durability and validation.  Recognize and complete validation activities, own repair substantiation efforts, support the leading indicator program and partner with PSE for implementation.
  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical and/or electrical engineering for all products
  • Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
  • Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors of Science degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum 3 years experience in design engineering role

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Established project management skills.
  • 5+ years experience in design engineering role including some exposure to fielded product support
