Job Description SummaryThe GE9X product line has completed initial type certification and is actively supporting Boeing aircraft certification efforts. In addition, several product improvement design efforts are underway targeting a reduction in customer maintenance burden. The GE9X Certification Engineer will be responsible for deliverables in the following focus areas:
• Project leader for Initial Certification Plan (ICP) development and execution of Major Type Design Changes (MTDC’s).
• Participation in Foreign Validation of global Civil Aviation Authorities.
• Authoring and consulting on the authoring of certification reports and artifacts.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manage certification projects (ICP’s) in collaboration with a global engineering team, collaborate with systems engineering, and interface with the GE Aerospace Airworthiness & Certification office
  • Uses program management skills to develop certification plans, execute, and provide leadership to the broader engineering organization in attaining milestones
  • Interact with aviation authorities and regulatory members to ensure the proper showing of compliance requirements are met and certified
  • Collaborate with GE9X Systems Certification office on all deliverable submittals
  • Execute required action plans needed to resolve qualification / certification issues
  • Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned qualification activities
  • Ensure certification test integration, as needed
  • Manage and document certification documents and artifacts
  • Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking and technical experience to execute policy/strategy.
  • Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
  • Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Systems Engineering

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience with US FAA certification process and Part 33 regulations
  • Strong oral and written English communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Ability to document, plan, lead, and execute programs.

This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
