Panasonic Avionics Corporation is seeking motivated Hardware Engineering Interns to join our growing Hardware Engineering team in our Irvine, CA office.  This paid internship will start in June and continue through August 2024 with an opportunity to potentially continue through the school year.  This internship will play an important role in assisting engineering staff team by performing modeling and drawing updates under the close supervision of senior engineers. They will be introduced to basic FAA and aircraft production and retrofit requirements, aircraft manual usage, part conformity and quality process gates.

How you will spend your summer:   

  • Assist engineering staff to perform tests to verify and characterize functionality and performance of circuits, circuit assemblies, LRUs and systems.
    • Perform functional tests and troubleshoot engineering board assemblies and LRUs for engineering proto builds.  
    • Assist engineering staff to perform safety check list per QOP-22-02 (open and short tests, power consumption measurements, and ESD etc)  
    • Assist Engineering staffs to generate test procedures and test reports.  
    • Assist Engineering staff to design and build engineering test boxes and test racks.  
    • Responsible for house keeping the lab areas and maintaining lab equipment.  
    • Assist engineering to check board schematic and layout.  
    • Other engineering lab duties as assigned by engineering manager. 

What you bring to the internship:  

  • Current student pursuing a bachelor’s degree, or current master’s level student
  • Preferred majors: Electrical Engineering (EE) or Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE)
  • Ability to plan engineering activities to perform assigned tasks.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others, take verbal as well as written instructions and communicate instructions as needed.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, in English, both written and verbally to all levels of the organization as well as external customers.  
  • Learn to use professional concepts and applies company policies and procedures to resolve basic and routine issues.  
  • Generally applies existing practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks. 
  • Occasional lifting of LRU weight up 35 Lbs may be required.

The hourly wage range for this position is $25- $36.  The final offer amount may vary and is based on the candidates year in school. The minimum hourly wage for this role will be the greater of the posted range, or minimum wage for the location where the employee will be working, subject to local minimum wage requirements.
