Boeing Defense Space and Security (BDS) is currently looking for a broad range of experience levels including Associate, Mid-Level, and Lead Reliability, Maintainability, and System Health Engineers to join the Mobility, Surveillance, and Bombers division to work on KC-46A in Everett, WA.

The KC-46A Pegasus is the worlds most advanced multi-mission aerial refueling aircraft. The candidate engineer will work with a dynamic and diverse team that supports the design, configuration, production, certification, and delivery of aircraft integrated systems.

Position Responsibilities:

Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions. Evaluates customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. Performs various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture. Performs analyses for reliability, maintainability, diagnostics, system health, testability, and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success. Develops, maintains and identifies improvements for the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes. Resolves cross-functional technical issues.

Provide analysis and support for RM&SH analysis deliverables including Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Failure Mode and Effects Criticality Analysis (FMECA), R&M numerical analyses, and execute failure analyses in support of the Failure Reporting and Corrective Action System (FRACAS).

  • Perform FMEA/FMECA by formulating mathematical models to identify items posing excessive failure and safety risks and support proposed changes in design.
  • Perform R&M numeric analyses  (i.e., MTBF, LLIL, MTTR, etc.) to allocate requirements across systems and LRUs, assess reliability of LRUs and ultimately verify hardware and software R&M requirements.
  • Support and review corrective actions to ensure resolution of reliability concerns in support of the KC-46 FRACAS activities.
  • Interface with the customer, United States Air Force (USAF) and management at major design review meetings to provide reliability findings and recommendations other ideas that might be good to include :
  • Analyze customer provided requirements and develop a reliability engineering program to achieve customer reliability objectives.
  • Active participant on design teams, provides guidance and recommendations to designers and management to ensure reliability objective are met.
  • Interface with the customer and management at major design review meetings to provide reliability findings and recommendations.
  • Provide input to proposals for submittals to customers. Review subcontractors’ proposals for reliability program and submits evaluation for decision.

Security Clearance: 

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.  This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance post Start.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 2 or more years of related work experience.
  • Experience in the field of Reliability and Maintainability Engineering.
  • Experience with Systems Engineering principles.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Experience working with and partnering with cross-functional teams on projects and initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications/Desired Skills (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • System Engineering requirements and verifications experience
  • 5 years of Reliability, Maintainability, and System Health experience
  • 5 years of working experience in Failure Mode Effect Analysis, Reliability & Maintainability Predictions, and/or Reliability Testing activities.
  • Master’s education in Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Systems Engineering or related disciplines.
  • 3&43; years of experience with Reliability and Maintainability engineering principles.
  • Military or commercial aircraft experience
  • Experience with PTC Windchill Quality Solutions (or similar reliability tool suite)
  • Experience with FMECA process (using or similar to MIL-STD-1629A)

Associate (Level 2):

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Mid-Level (Level 3)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g., Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g., PhD, Master&43;3 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. 

Lead (Level 4)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g., Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD&43;4 years related work experience, Master&43;7 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range:

Associate Level - $87,550 – 118,450

Mid-Level - $104,550 – 141,450

Lead Level- $128,350 – 173,650
