Your responsibilities in the role will include: Work with the Next Gen Composites team to develop new composite materials, processes, and analysis tools.  You will support internal composites development projects transitioning technologies to Boeing commercial, defense, and space customers.  Additionally, you will work on external contract research and development projects, transitioning technologies to external government organizations like the Air Force, NASA, and Navy.
Responsibilities:
  • Collects information to support definition of requirements for tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes used in the manufacture and engineering design of products.  
  • Incorporates changes to specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of materials, parts and processes.
  • Performs tests to qualify new tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes to meet requirements. Assists with activities to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements.
  • Conducts basic analysis to determine performance or reasons for failures of tools, materials, parts or processes.
  • Assists in implementing corrective and preventive actions. Develops basic computer and production systems to satisfy user requirements.
  • Uses project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements. Incorporates environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas.
Basic Qualifications (Requirements):
  • This position requires an active or ability to obtain U.S. Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.
  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Background in materials science, chemical, mechanical, manufacturing, industrial, or aerospace engineering, chemistry, physics, or similar.  Interest in continuing to educate yourself about aerospace and composite materials and processes - need to be a lifelong learner!
Assets (Preferred):
  • Experience with resins and fibers relevant to energy, automotive, or aerospace industries.
  • Experience in part design, strength analysis, CAD, FEA, progressive damage and failure, process modeling, materials modeling. 
  • Hand’s on experience fabricating composite parts.
