What you’ll be doing as a Strategic Principal Quality Engineer
The Strategic Principal Program Quality Engineer performs multi-faceted strategic and operational-level assignments across military and commercial programs, enterprise factories and facilities, and departments. The strategic Principal QE will lead cross functional teams in preventive, corrective, and continuous improvement projects that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Quality Management System.
· Serve as the primary Quality point of contact for actions to resolve quality issues with suppliers, manufacturing centers, and assembly centers for assigned programs.
· Lead Quality Engineering assignments requiring independent evaluation, selection, and application of standard Quality Engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment and ingenuity in making adaptations and modifications.
· Lead and mentor cross-functional teams in corrective action and continuous improvement to enhance quality performance and compliance to aerospace standards, regulatory requirements, engineering requirements, policies, and procedures.
· Perform Quality Management System assignments requiring AS9100 and AS9110 system knowledge, auditing, manufacturing process reviews, root cause and corrective action analysis, process and procedure development and revision, data analysis and reporting, preventing, and containing quality issues from becoming quality escapes to customers, communicating highly technical quality issues with integrated operations leadership, program engineering, and regulatory and customer representatives.
· Lead and manage teams in the development of new and revision of existing policies and procedures.
· Interface with Supplier Quality Assurance to collaborate and facilitate supplier quality issue resolution.
· Lead quality and process engineering teams in the performance of QMS and manufacturing process reviews and audits.
· Coach and develop junior quality engineers, to include with Lean Six Sigma processes and tools for root cause corrective in response to quality or compliance issues.
· Support and advise the Quality Culture and Compliance team in their planning and execution of compliance activities.
· Coach, mentor, and support QEs in the development of Quality Program Plans for new development programs.
· Participate in Contract Data Requirements List development, review and delivery to the customer as required by the assigned project(s).
· Assist with performing or facilitating material testing/analysis evaluations on special projects.
· Assist in developing fabrication/build processes and standards.
· Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) for quality nonconformances for disposition activities.
· Interface with internal/external organizations and systems in performance of the assigned Quality Engineering functions.
· Communicate at an executive level in both written and verbal, with all the interfacing functions.
· Maintain exemplary interpersonal and leadership skills necessary to lead through technical and professional expertise and experience.
