Summary

This position is responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and improving processes directly related to the melting and manufacturing processes. These processes include Vacuum Induction Melting (VIM), Argon Oxygen Decarburization (AOD), and continuous casting.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Define process parameters and establish process capabilities.
  • Develop efficient and repeatable methods of manufacturing to meet product requirements.
  • Develop and implement process, quality, and yield improvements that are sustainable.
  • Monitor product and process performance through audits and Statistical Process Control techniques.
  • Review customer specifications for acceptance.
  • Interact with Sales personnel and Customers to resolve differences between customer requirements and process capabilities.
  • Maintain document control systems.
  • Interface with customers on quality related issues.
  • Assist in maintaining and developing state of the art manufacturing technology to support the company’s strategic objectives.
  • Support Safety and Quality initiatives.
  • Prepare reports, make presentations to communicate information, and provide operator training as required.

Education and experience

Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical, Materials, Chemical Engineering or related degree required.

2+ years manufacturing engineering experience preferred.

o Advanced degree(s) in Engineering or related disciplines may be used in lieu of work experience.

Experience in liquid metal processing (VIM, AOD, Casting, etc.) is desirable.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with personnel at all organizational levels.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear; frequently required to stand, walk or sit; regularly required to use hands and reach with hands and arms; occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The typical work environment is a standard office setting / office contained in a foundry or manufacturing setting. The employee will also be required to perform work in a foundry environment with occasional exposure to work near moving mechanical parts / work in high temperatures / risk of electrical shock; the typical noise level is moderate noise.
