GENERAL SUMMARY:

Position is responsible for keeping the organization compliant with agreed upon ISO and ASQ Quality program requirements and conducting pre-audits and planning to pass all external audits. The position will be responsible for driving down escapes by holding the organization accountable for 8D’s and other Root Cause Analysis initiatives. This is a decision-making position with authority to define, execute, or control projects/processes and to be responsible for the outcome. This position will interface with other departments as well as customer representatives. Incumbent will develop and operate quality control systems, apply and analyze testing and inspection procedures, use metrology and statistical methods to diagnose and correct improper quality control practices, and demonstrate understanding of human factors and motivation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Will have a fundamental understanding of quality philosophies, principles, systems, methods, tools, standards, organizational and team dynamics, customer expectations and satisfaction, supplier relations and performance, leadership, training, interpersonal relationships, improvement systems, and professional ethics.
  2. Review of customer purchase orders, drawings and specifications, both customer and industry, to establish requirements.
  3. Oversee and implement Quality requirements/procedures as specified by the customer.
  4. Oversee final certification of products and assist in streamlining part processing.
  5. Assist in the processing of MRB and other customer submittals.
  6. Answer technical Quality related questions from both employees & customers.
  7. Assist in the generation of product and process related work instructions as it relates to specification requirements.
  8. Assist departments with development and implementation of appropriate corrective action plans to improve overall quality results. Responsibilities include promoting, teaching and presenting quality as a means for system/process improvement and efficiency.
  9. Collect and analyze data from each audit activity and assist with the development and implementation of appropriate corrective action plans to improve overall quality results.
  10. Participate in Quality System and Process audits.
  11. Coordinate Quality related issues for shipment of product.
  12. Serve as the main focal point for all Quality related issues with customers during source inspection and audits.
  13. Participate in projects for cost savings programs.
  14. Oversee work of technician’s work for customer and manufacturing release.
  15. Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Incumbent must be familiar with quality cost concepts and techniques and demonstrate the knowledge and ability to develop and administer management information systems and audit quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.

  1. Knowledge of the investment casting process and equipment.
  2. Have a fundamental understanding of a quality system and its development, documentation, and implementation of domestic and international standards or requirements.
  3. Have a basic understanding of the audit process including types of audits, reporting results, and follow-up.
  4. Able to develop and implement quality programs, including tracking, analyzing, reporting and problem solving.
  5. Able to plan, control, and ensure product and process quality in accordance with quality principles, which include planning processes, material control, acceptance sampling, and measurement systems.
  6. Basic knowledge of reliability, maintainability, and risk management, including assessment tools, and reporting.
  7. Have a thorough understanding of problem solving and quality improvement tools and techniques. This includes knowledge of planning tools, quality tools, preventative and corrective actions, and how to overcome barriers to quality improvements.
  8. Will be able to acquire and analyze data using appropriate standard quantitative methods across a spectrum of business environments to facilitate process analysis and improvements.
  9. Knowledge of Quality System specifications and various customer/industry specifications.
  10. Knowledge of ISO and ASQ Quality program requirements.
  11. Knowledge of failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), advanced product quality planning items (APQP/UPPAP/PPAP).
  12. Demonstrated computer skills to include Excel, Access, and Word.
  13. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  14. Knowledge of drafting and blueprint reading.
  15. Strong organizational/planning skills, mathematical (statistical) skills, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  16. Ability to complete tasks within required time frames and manage multiple priorities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Science or equivalent education and experience. Five to seven years quality systems experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to stand/walk within the manufacturing facility. Ability to communicate, write, type, use and operate office equipment. Ability to exert up to thirty-five pounds of force to move objects. Ability to work in conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and varying temperatures.
