Job Description:
SUMMARY: The Services Support Engineer shall be proficient in the writing, editing, revising and standardization of aircraft technical data within customer specific aircraft maintenance management systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Be the primary Engineering focal for data entry into the customer specific aircraft maintenance management software. 
  • Create and modify aircraft parts within the maintenance management system using Aircraft IPC, Vendor CMM, SB, SIL, Drawings and other technical documents 
  • Provide technical writing capability in Boeing Toolbox and XML editing software; customer maintenance software (i.e. TRAX), and continued engineering documentation.
  • Prepare presentations and work with the Engineering team in presenting to both internal and external (i.e. customer) audiences.
  • Assists in the review of Engineering Orders and drawings/data to identify what revisions to technical publications are required.
  • Coordinates with maintenance, engineering, or planning departments to research required changes and ensure the accuracy of the changes to technical publications.
  • Utilizes consistent format for technical publication supplements, work orders, and drawings through editing and standardizing of material prepared by ATS and other contributors.
  • Assist Engineering team with historical research for Engineering Service Requests
  • Report Customer and Maintenance priorities / new developments to the ATS Engineering Leads & Management that will affect aircraft span and/or team work load.
  • Coordinate and assist in implementing new policies and procedures within the Engineering department to help improve efficiency.
  • Aid in the construction and implementation of department processes and procedures.
  • Interact in a professional manner with members of internal and external organizations.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Position may require overnight travel, being on-call, and responding to technical AOG situations during off hours.
  • Assist Engineering Management with additional tasks when business needs arise.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
In addition to the duties listed above, this position may require additional engineering duties and requirements as follows:
  • Provide written technical accomplishment instructions for aircraft and component repairs or modifications to maintenance, customer, and regulatory authorities as necessary.
  • Coordinate and assist in implementing new policies and procedures within the Engineering department to help improve efficiency.
  • Carries out the policies and procedures of ATS, and ATS Engineering and notifies Engineering Management when these procedures are not followed.
AUTHORITY:
Initiate technical instructions that are substantiated by data acceptable to or approved by the FAA. For technical instruction pertaining to work accomplished on aircraft or components operated under FAR Part 121, authority is as specified by the air carrier’s procedures.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
  • Ability to assemble various documents using data provided by engineers, customers, vendors, etc. in a standard format.
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers. Good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Strong PC skills will include e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, communications, and operating systems.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical functions.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Aircraft technical publications and document publishing systems experience desirable (Adobe Framemaker and illustration editing experience particularly desirable).
  • Familiarity with ATA iSpec 2200 (specification for preparing technical documentation in support of aircraft maintenance).
  • Highly proficient in TRAX Maintenance management software
  • Must be adaptable and flexible at all times and apply their knowledge and skills to develop creative solutions.
  • Ability to accomplish basic stress analysis and substantiation for complex repairs or modifications using standard accepted industry practices and other structural design methodologies.
  • Ability to understand regulatory requirements for airworthiness, for the FAA and various foreign authorities (JAA, JAR, CAA, DGAC, CAAC, etc.) and include in engineering documents, drawings and designs.
  • Ability to understand and promote the policies / procedures of ATS, and ATS Engineering.
  • Ability to understand and apply the policies / procedures of all customer(s).
  • Ability to understand and apply information from Structural Repair Manuals (SRMs), Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMMs), Illustrated Parts Catalogs (IPCs), Service Bulletins (SBs), Airworthiness Directives (ADs) and other aircraft reference materials.
  • Assertive communication skills are required.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma and six years of experience specifically related to job requirements. Additional related higher education is desirable. .

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND DEXTERITY:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to sit; use their hands and arms; and talk or hear; and focus on objects close up. The employee will also be required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

ENVIRONMENT:
Normal business office conditions generally prevail. The noise level is usually low to moderate. Employee may be working in a cubicle, enclosed office, or open area. Floor may be carpeted or bare.
