Job Description:
  • Responsible for structural stress analysis, thermal analysis, and operational testing for various types of industrial and aerospace products
  • Conduct operational testing and develop test plans including instrumentation, data acquisition, and signal processing. 
  • Provide presentations and recommendations based on test results.
  • Expertise in finite element analysis and able to apply that knowledge using ANSYS Workbench and associated tools.
  • Includes performing static, dynamic vibration, shock, plasticity, interference, contact, and fatigue analysis. 
  • Execute the design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to industry standards, business processes, and product requirements. 
  • Support design reviews and coordinate with other disciplines in design, performance, controls, additive manufacturing, materials, and system analysis
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
  • Participate in the research and development of technologies and methodologies associated with additive design. 
  • Advise on ways to improve product design through the exploitation of additive manufacturing.
  • The role will initially be an individual contributor comfortable working in a dynamic self-directed start-up environment. 
  • As the organization grows, this role will be responsible for scaling design capability to support additional projects which will likely include some future team leadership. 
  • Being able to grow leadership capabilities with the role will be critical.
  • Uses engineering judgment to balance complex and conflicting program requirements and propose solutions to optimize overall product performance
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated consistent with engineering best practices

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • At least 5 years of experience in gas turbine component design
  • Strong understanding of design software tools (CAD, ANSYS, etc)
  • Significant experience with ANSYS Workbench focusing on structural and thermal analysis
  • Passion for additive technology and willingness to challenge current design limitations to further exploit the benefits of additive capability
  • Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability and strong program leadership and execution skills
  • Proven self-starter and quick learner who can work in fast-paced cross-functional teams
