Job Description SummaryThe LEAP Strategic Powerplant Engineer is a member of the Customer Technical Programs (CTP) team reporting to the LEAP Customer Technical Programs (CTP) Sub-section manager under Services Technology Engineering. The role is tasked with driving key MRO projects within XEOS shop and works closely with the Customer Program Teams, Systems Engineering, Fleet Analytics, Life Cycle Engineering, and Services Operations teams.

This role will be an integral part in the business priorities both internally and with strategic partnership with MRO shops and SAFRAN. In this role you will be expected to develop and maintain strong working relationships between GE partners, Airline customers, Engineering, Services Operations Teams, and Customer and Product Support teams.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

As the LEAP CTP Strategic Powerplant Engineer, you will be responsible for facilitating and communication of technical programs and business metrics, including, but not limited to:

  • Execution of MRO NPI activities and development and/or support of MRO capabilities advancements for overhaul and repair.
  • Workscoping support for assigned contracts. Negotiate repair specifications with CSA customers. Effectively communicate with the customer program manager (CPM), Customer team and SAFRAN to assure quality technical consultation in support of CSA/T&M contracts.
  • Shop/near-wing technology deployment.
  • Contractual profitability via cost control program implementation, workscope escalation trending, DR application and leadership on escalation mitigation projects.
  • Engine Turnaround time reduction in partnership with the shop by understanding the gate process and identifying /executing the projects. 
  • Participate in pre-induction and gate reviews to assure all technical workscope options are being considered and optimized.
  • Lead/participant in LEAN Kaizen events to drive best practices across MRO facilities.
  • Support Shop leading indicator programs as required.
  • Foster and inspire a collaborative work style and display team-oriented behavior with a proactive example of communication internally within GE and SAFRAN and externally with Customers

Required Qualifications

  • The role requires significant experience in the Engineering/Technology & Fleet Management. Knowledge level is comparable to a Masters degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience).

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
  • Advanced Degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college
    MRO Shop or airline shop experience.
  • Previous experience in Aviation engines / Fleet Management/systems / aircraft / repair or turbo machinery.
  • Familiar with GE Aviation long term service agreements, customer / product support role functions (CPM / CSM).
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple project responsibilities
    Previous experience in driving operational excellence and continuous improvement.
