Take charge of our day-to-day operations, so we remain the trusted source for aviation repair and maintenance. Work with your team to implement the right processes and practices across our organisation to help ensure flight and product efficiency.

A hands on role which includes active leadership in the management of a team of associates to ensure they are able to deliver the required volume, at the right quality, efficiently and safely. They will support the engine services production schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all team members understand the need for safe working practices and adhere to the safe working methods and countermeasures that Vector Aerospace implement.
  • Embed a mindset for no deviation from the use of quality processes and procedures.
  • Responsible for ensuring their first reports have 100 of Attended Hours booked to appropriate order tasks each day and maximise productivity. 
  • Manage the day to day capability of the team to deliver required throughput rate to support customer requirements, by reviewing of Bookings vs. Standard Times.
  • Provide weekly capability forecasts to the Operations Manager and on request produce capacity plans and prioritise order tasks to meet customer requirements and capacity where there are capacity constraints.
  • Manage the utilisation of labour and resources in conjunction with all areas of Engine Services in line with Production Schedule and maintain good working relationships across the business.
  • Regularly review and develop the day to day capability of the team and update skills matrix.
  • Report emerging and/or potential needs for overtime to the Operations Manager.
  • Conduct and review PARs, ensuring adequate opportunity for development within the team against agreed objectives.
  • Review team performance measures, monthly against agreed objectives. 
  • Deputise for your line manager and other Team Leaders when required.
  • Promote (Lean) practices and continuous improvement within the team to improve the team’s performance and Turn Round Time/On Time Delivery.
  • Be the focal point for the team to help solve problems and encourage them to problem solve for themselves.
  • Manage the maintenance routines of machinery and serviceability of equipment and specialist tools.
  • Complete the FLM training Course (or equivalent) and a personal development plan within 12 months of assuming the role.
  • Provide new starters with the necessary team induction and systems training to engage new members
  • Responsible for the work place environment i.e. customer and audit ready at all times
  • Adherence to our Quality Management Systems (QMS), Safety Management Systems (SMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and all associated Business Manuals

Accountability:

  • Manage assigned direct reports in accordance with shop standards and working time directive.
  • Delivering products/tasks to targets as identified by the Operations Manager, including all specified Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
  • Lead production meetings and feed information and data into other interactive areas.
  • Manage the production activity in adherence to targets.
  • Ensure Facility and IS work orders are raised in a timely manner.
  • The T/L is authorised to conduct work within the scope of their company approval and to stop work or any activity that could expose the company, customer’s equipment, or any personnel to risk of injury, damage or undertaking unsafe working practices.
  • Manage Time & Attendance for direct reports and conduct RTW interviews.

Organisational Relationships:

  • Role model core behaviour’s within the team, providing the desired leadership  qualities.
  • Reports to Programme Manager.
  • Interacts with wider Engines Management team
  • Proactively develop and maintain effective working relationships with all Vector functions.
  • Present the functional capabilities of the team to internal and external customers.

Education and Training: 

  • FLM Training (or equivalent) is desirable or temporary promotion experience.
  • Approvals desirable, dependant on product or support function.

Technical Requirements:

  • Dependant on product or support function.
  • Experience of Aerospace industry or related industry.
