Job Summary: 

The Lead, Interior Technician- R&I is an hourly non-exempt position, which requires knowledge of interior installation, removal, disassembling, reassembling and repair. Job Tasks include varying amounts of parts replacements or repair, basic electrical system installation and general mechanical applications. Modifications, repair, refurbishment and installation of aircraft interiors are primary functions. The job involves leading a crew of about 10-12 team members. The job includes varying amounts of parts replacement and general technical applications. The ability to evaluate and adjust on modifications is essential. Training and maintaining workflow will be essential. Job duties will vary by type and scope as designated by the Interior Program Manager. Will be required to work independently. ZR

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Perform incoming inspection of aircraft interiors components and list on the Incoming Inspection Form. Take pictures of all interiors areas, including cockpit, cabin, lavatory, and baggage compartment, noting any damage. 
  • Perform general repairs on aircraft interiors and related systems at a proven level beyond basics. 
  • Removal and installation of panels, headliners and additional components, including, but not limited to panel fabrication and fit. 
  • Proven sheet metal repair, removal and or installation skills, including fabrications. 
  • Removal, repair and installation of carpeting, insulation, sound proofing and fabric accessories. 
  • Perform modifications, repairs and or replacement of components, and associated fastening parts at a level beyond basic, including, but not limited to fabrications and detailed repairs. 
  • Use appropriate and proven care, handling methods, transportation and storage of components in order to protect and maintain the integrity and condition of Customer interiors. 
  • Maintain and protect components and the general area of work within an aircraft in a safe and clean manner so as to protect interior components and surrounding areas, equipment, etc. 
  • Create, process and maintain R&I-Removal and Installation Logs, including appropriate sign-offs and approvals. 
  • Capable of receiving an Airmans Certificate and Alternate Inspector approval, with Inspections sign-off authority preferred. 

Job Requirements:
Job Specifications: 

Education: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Supervisory training classes preferred. 

 

 

 

Experience:

  • 4 plus year of experience in Interior installation, removal and repair; strong mechanical aptitude within the Aviation industry; an understanding of Aircraft Interiors and associated components, including repairs and fabrications. 
  • Turbine aircraft experience preferred, but not essential. 
  •  2+ years heavy modification experience preferred. 
  • 1+ year supervisory experience preferred 

Minimum Qualifications:

  •  A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not required 

Computer Skills: 

  • Basic computer skills. Experience in Aviation Maintenance Software programs, with Corridor background preferred.  

Initiative:

  • Self-motivated and able to maintain a rapid pace. 
  • Able to process work with minimal supervision. 

Responsibility: 

  • Must perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines. 
  • Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties. 
  • Maintain customer oriented work habits. 
  • Perform major modification work.

  • Other technicians in interior department or other departments. 
  • Team Leader of team assigned, Interior Supervisor and Interior Manager. 
  • Company sales representatives. 
  • Customers or outside vendors. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift and carry at least 50 lbs. 
  • Routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting. 
  • Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands with emphasis on grasping, feeling and finger dexterity. 
  • Ability to stand for long periods. 

Mental Requirements:

  • Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines including but not limited to OSHA, haz mat, etc. 
  • Ability to communicate with employees, customers and vendors in a professional manner. 
  • Ability to work with others in a professional manner. 
  • Ability to read various reports and blue prints. 
  • Ability to plan and organize procedures and operations. 

Supervision: 

  • Will work under supervision of assigned Interior Supervisor and Interior Manager. 
  • Will supervise team of technicians. 
  • Work with minimal supervision. 

Working Conditions:

  • The majority of work will be accomplished in a heated hangar or shop area. 
  • Work in aircraft on ramp on occasion., 
  • Varied positions in and around the aircraft. 

Equipment Used: 

  • Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic. 
  • Electrical power tools such as sanders, saws, power drills, etc. 
  • Sheet metal cutters, glue guns and metal benders. 
  • Tugs, power carts and other engineer powered equipment. 
  • Computer, copy machine, work order print outs, office equipment.
