PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

• Interpret blueprints, completion drawings, company standards, and work instructions;
• Perform calculations using shop math for tooling, detailed parts, assembles, and installations;
• Perform sewing or upholstery operations of high quality and within budget;
• Disassemble and reassemble various models of vendor passenger seats and divans in accordance with the guidelines of the vendor component maintenance manuals;
• Perform maintenance such as proper glue application, adhesive bonding, hardware, and rivet installation;
• Train other personnel on specific job assignments;
• Practice proper aircraft maintenance practices;
• Maintain clean and organized work area;
• Complete assignments under budget without sacrificing quality;
• Accurately log computerized labor data collection for time and attendance tracking;
• Work in a safe manner in accordance with OSHA and company safety procedures;
• Style a variety of foams to meet specifications/customer requirements;
• Layout, match, cut, and sew various routine and non-routine sewing operations, including exotic fabrics such as plaids, stripes, diamond patterns and floral designs to produce symmetry in appearance;
• Develop patterns from prints, sketches, models, and verbal instructions;
• Inspect, select, and work with fabrics, leathers, foams, and other materials used in the performance of job assignments;
• Fabricate and upholster all soft goods including but not limited to aircraft seats (fabrication and cover), divans, service ledges, side walls, headliners, and window panels;
• Set up and operate all equipment, such as routers, sanders, and sewing machines;
• Recommend improved production methods, including the reduction of rework, process improvements, and flow reduction; and work with limited supervision on routine and non- routine assignments.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• High School diploma (or foreign equivalent) plus: 3 years of experience as upholsterer;
• Experience setting up and operating standard equipment in an upholstery setting as follows:
  • 3 years setting up and operating foam saw, wire saw, sewing machine (double drive), orbital sander, overlock machine, and carpet surging machine; and
  • 1 year setting up and operating high speed sander and CNC machine;
• 3 years of working on drawings, F-standards, and preparation packages in an upholstery setting; and
• 1 year of working on 3D models and blueprints in an upholstery setting.
• All experience may have been gained concurrently.
