PCC Mason, located just north of Cincinnati, OH is an advanced manufacturing center of excellence for Precision Castparts Corporation&39;s Fasteners Division focused on developing innovative production capabilities used in the manufacturing of aerospace fasteners.

The Tool Room Machinist/Technician role will be responsible for manufacturing & maintaining production tooling & forging die for various manufacturing processes at this facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Inspection, qualification, inventory maintenance & reordering of outsourced tooling.
  • Modification of production tooling and dies as required.
  • Manufacture of custom tooling when required.
  • Prepare & maintain tooling list for production jobs together with process owners.
  • Prepare and release tooling carts for changeover.
  • Inspect used dies/tooling and determine stocking rates, create Purchase orders etc.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Required Skills

  • Work safely by adhering to relevant EH&S procedures & proper use of PPE.
  • Applicants should have prior experience in using & operating a variety of tool room machinery like lathes, milling machines, grinding machines, drills, presses and CNC machines.
  • Ability to read, interpret engineering drawings/prints and tolerance requirements to plan sequences of manufacturing operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.
  • Experience in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, bench gauges, optical profilometers, etc.
  • Hands on with good mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, basic math skills & strong initiative.
  • Familiarity with shop floor ERP systems to enter & manage purchase orders.
  • Able to work overtime as needed.
  • Work in a team environment, i.e. follow instructions and assist others as needed.
  • Basic to Medium level proficiency in CAD/CAM software & CNC programming will be a plus.

Experience & Education

  • High School Diploma or GED with experience or vocational/technical certification required. Associates degree preferred.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience as tool room machinist/technician in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Standing for prolonged periods of time – up to 8 hours or more per day.
  • Lifting of objects up to 35 pounds.
  • Noise level is usually moderate.
  • Fast-paced environment, subject to numerous schedule and priority changes and short notice activity.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle and/or adjust equipment.
  • Moderate reaching, pushing, pulling, gripping, and grasping.
  • Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel toed work boots or shoes.
