This summary provides a listing of the knowledge, skills, and abilities that are critical components for the position of Load Supervisor, also previously known as “Loadmaster”

General

This is a full-time, FLSA-exempt position, not eligible for overtime, that will report to the Director of Network Sales and Services, will help supervise loading by ground, ramp, and cargo personnel, whether employee or contract, and will interact with the SOC Operations Managers, Customer Service, Flight Crews, and other operations team members. The Load Supervisor must be detail-oriented and help oversee a safe, secure, and efficient run of ground operations (“below wing”) and also keep the company compliant with ground training standards, requirements, and records. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to a culture of robust internal controls. Good communication skills are required, and the successful candidate must be able to exhibit the values and culture of the company while working in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility in this role is vital to the training organization; expectations with this role are to understand that duties may be given to you beyond your general scope of work when it is necessary to complete a task.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare or supervise the preparation and completion of the Cargo Loading Report or Cargo Loading Sheet
  • Must be at the gate at least 4 hours before departure time
  • Does security check in all below wing, above wing, and passenger cabin compartments
  • Coordinates and maintains clear and concise communication with all ground handlers including the lav and water team, fuelers, and de-icing (as required) to ensure that all functions are fully serviced before take off.
  • Assists in sourcing last-minute catering when a problem with a vendor arises.
  • On boardwalk through and trash collection prior to any passengers boarded
  • Be the point of contact from the beginning till the end of the flight, maintaining updates with head office with vendors and flight status every step during the flight via the SOC update.
  • Assist FME (Maintenance) with mirror tasks when needed
  • Ensures bulk hold is checked and cleared for each flight. Physically inspects each belly compartment and accounts for containers and any contents.
  • Physically present to supervise cargo loading to ensure proper loading and consistent with loading sheets/reports
  • Ensures that all cargo documentation required is completed, and accurate, and accompanies each shipment as required in addition to proper and accurate record keeping within the station for audit purposes
  • Ensures that USCIS, CBP, or other regulatory requirements are met during shipment so that shipments aren’t delayed in reaching their final destination
  • Works with regulatory authorities to clear shipments once arrive and to safely and efficiently deliver to customers
  • Coordinates with fuelers, catering cleaning, and Ground handlers to service aircraft promptly, ensuring on-time departures.
  • Follows Cargo Manifest to secure any overage, shortage, or damaged cargo.
  • Serves as GSC for aircraft and passengers by implementing necessary safety and security precautions.
  • Adheres to customs, immigration, and other government agency requirements for international and domestic flights.
  • In-flight liaison for Flight and Cabin crew.
  • DG/HAZMAT acceptance to ensure proper processing of loading, stowage handling, and pilot NOTOC.
  • Monitors environmental systems for in-flight cargo.
  • Ensures compliance with ramp service policies and procedures, particularly in the areas of cargo handling, and ground handling.
  • May need at times to assist in the pushing/pulling of containers, loading/unloading cargo, cleaning, and servicing aircraft under-wing needs
  • Able to routinely lift bags and other cargo items weighing up to 70 pounds and be comfortable climbing in and out of aircraft cargo compartments, operating ground equipment and aircraft loading systems, securing cargo with nets, and assisting ground teams with aircraft loading and unloading
  • While traveling customer-charter flights must always maintain a professional appearance, and be able to represent Eastern Airlines with the proper professionalism.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Network Sales and Service on a flight-by-flight basis
Job Requirements:
  • Three (3) or more years of airline ground operations experience in a widebody environment preferred
  • Three (3) or more years of Ramp experience required
  • Extensive travel is required, including internationally.
  • Applicants must have a valid passport and the ability to travel regularly, both domestically and internationally
  • Work requires walking, standing, bending, kneeling, or other such activities that may at times be uncomfortable
  • Strong computer knowledge in Outlook, MS Word, and Excel (intermediate level)
  • Ability to work collaboratively with fellow employees and management
  • Self-starter & goal oriented
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and consistently accurate in meeting deadlines and multitasking in a fast-paced environment
  • Pass a two- (2) year drug and alcohol background check, pre-employment drug test, and criminal history records check (CHRC)
  • Eligibility to work in the United States of America.
