TASK DESCRIPTION:

 

Aircraft Mechanic II (23022): Aircraft Mechanics II must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, and structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions. Additionally provides input to Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), Estimated Cost of Damage preparation (ECOD) and assist in the recommendation of changes to (MWO). Individuals must be able to prioritize workloads and are required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks. Mechanic IIs can inspect Mechanic IIs and Is. This mechanic maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components, applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation, and applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufactures’ manuals. Must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts, requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair, must have basic knowledge of electrical theory, must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers. This job requires working knowledge of technical publications. The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records. Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects. May require specialization in sheet-metal, electric work, avionics or other aircraft systems related disciplines.

 

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:


- All Aircraft Mechanic IIs must have Aviation Mechanic Experience and not just general maintenance experience.

 

 

TASK REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure.
  2. Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures, such as fuselage and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, rivet gun and drills.
  3. Read and interpret manufacturers maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
  4. Perform phase, scheduled, unscheduled, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections.
  5. Use chemical treatment process to etch and alodine parts.
  6. Use chemical sealants.
  7. Requisition repair parts, materials, and consumable supplies through military supply system ULLS-A (E).
  8. Lead and direct small maintenance teams.
  9. Perform other tasks as directed.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. H-60, H-64, H-47 or H-72 qualification and/or experience.
  2. Three to five years leadership experience.
  3. Eight or more years’ rotary wing experience.
  4. Familiarity and ability to use Microsoft Office.
  5. Familiarity and ability to use military tech manuals.
  6. Familiarity and ability to use Standard Army Management Information Systems i.e. ULLS-A (E).

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be a graduate of Military Sheet Metal Qualification Courses or civilian equivalent.
  2. At least two years of experience on military rotorcraft.
  3. Must be able to work 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift schedule as required.
  4. Must be able to work flexible work-week schedules i.e. M-F, Tues-Sat, Sun-Th or as required.
  5. Must be able to pass a background check.
  6. Must be able to obtain a favorable National Agency Check.
  7. Must be able to climb ladders, raised platforms, and aircraft.
  8. Must be able to use hand and power tools.
  9. Must have dexterity to handle small parts.
  10. Must have own tools.
  11. Must be able to deploy to support off station exercises and perform other support duties as assigned.
  12. Tool box must be complete, shadowed and marked as a pre-employment requirement.

 

Compensation

$35.42/hour

 

Other Compensation

Employees who opt out of health insurance coverage receive $50.00 on a bi-weekly basis.

Employees are offered medical, dental, vision, and life insurance at 1x base salary. Employees are able to enroll in KAI’s 401k plan.  Employees accrue 4.62 hours of PTO per pay period. KAI employees at the Army National Guard Base in Fresno, CA receive 11 paid holidays.

 

Employment is contingent on (a) your ability to provide appropriate proof of your identity and eligibility to work in the United States; (b) your references and any background check being satisfactory to the Company; (c) you successfully passing a pre-employment drug test; and (d) your ability to get a required clearance by your effective start date, if needed; and (e) KAI commencing performance on this contract.
