Job Summary

The Aircraft Worker makes repairs to aircraft following orders of higher grade worker, assists in preflight, post flights troubleshooting malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation. Responsible for the daily operation of flight line, wash rack, hanger, and other areas on or off base that may require support of the customer and contract requirements.

Essential Responsibilities:

heating systems, removes, cleans, reinstalls, or replaces defective parts, accessories, and components such as worn gaskets, couplings, and fittings, bad actuators, accumulators, gauges, sections of corroded fuel and oil lines, This worker may supervise the jacking and towing of aircraft, makes adjustments and settings such as cable tension and seat movement settings and adjustments; obtains standard parts such as fuel and oil line connections and fittings, cable linkage, and spark plug cables and harnesses by referring to parts manuals and by making comparisons with samples, may perform pre-flight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, enter in the maintenance records description of the work performed, and services engines and aircraft components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition. Reads and interprets manufacturers and maintenance manuals, OPNAV 4790, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and methods of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components, daily turnaround, aircraft acceptance sheet, fuel and oil documentation. This is not an all-inclusive list

Aircraft worker: replacing or repairing worn or damaged components, such as  IMRL/red gear disassembling and inspecting parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects, and repairing or replacing defective engine parts and reassembles and installs engine in aircraft. This is not an all-inclusive list.

Enters in the maintenance records description of all work performed including safety of flight items and ensure the work was performed satisfactorily, may service engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition, may specialize in work repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts or assemblies, and may specialize in engine repair. This is not an all-inclusive list.

Work under the direction of a Mechanic 1 or higher, preforming any type of tasking as required on site.

Coordinate and participate in aircraft wash and moves.

Housekeeping of all areas of work including shop; participate in FOD program.

Comply with all requirements of PWS that are not listed above.

Comply with all safety requirements.

Handling and disposing of Hazmat.

Understand fall protection laws and requirements for the work site and be familiar with all amentum/US Navy instructions.

Obtain all support equipment licenses for job description.

Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Occasional lifting to 50 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, Hazmat handing and must be able to work under deadlines.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Work experience requirements. one (1) years of experience is required, H60 aircraft platform civilian or H60 military experience:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain PLANE CAPTAIN DESIGNATION (Aircraft Worker Qualifications) and all additional Certifications/ Designation associated with Plane Captain Designation. In accordance with instructions as outlined in CNAFINST 4790.2 (series) and Local work site local instructions. Shall be completed within the time frame set by local work site instructions.

  • Ability to use a computer, keyboard and mouse printer and be proficient using computer programs Word, Excel, powerpoint, Outlook, nalcomis/ooma.

  • Must be able to Build or maintain/manage or if assigned by Site Manger as program coordinator program in accordance with COMNAVAIRFORINST 47904790 all present and future versions.

  • Must be customer service focused.

  • All Work Site Positions: Job descriptions and responsibilities shall change with changes to US Navy Mission and needs.

  • Must be able to work all shifts. Full time employment; but 40 hour is not guaranteed per-week. Working hours; must be able to be flexible, start time and end time will be dependent on flight schedule and or overall tasking.

  • Must be able to work with foreign counties/cultures. Work side by side with people of different culture and languages.

  • Must be able to work efficiently alone and as a team member.

  • Must be able to exercise discretion and good judgment.

  • Must have working knowledge of MS Office programs to include; Word, EXCEL, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Certification & License: Tow Tractor - A/S32A-45 MRTT, Power Cart - A/M32A-108 Shore MEPP, Power Cart - NC-10B1/C Shore MEPP

  • Work Environment, Physical Demands and Mental Demands.

  • Ability to perform job duties efficiently and effectively.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.

  • Work under the direction of a Mechanic 1 or higher preforming any type of tasking as required on site.

  • Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures.

  • Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US government Common Access Card (CAC).  Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS), For temporary use only while waiting for CAC.

  • Required to possess and maintain a favorably adjudicated Tier 3 Background Investigation (Non-Critical Sensitive/IT-II).

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.

  • Must have a valid and maintain a current state drivers license.

  • Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and pass any medical examination requirements.

  • Landing Signalman Enlisted (LSE) and complete training syllabus, required US Navy school to receive certification.

  • Housekeeping of all areas of work including shop etc; participate in FOD program.

  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience maintenance operations on military aircraft highly preferred.
