Job Description:

We are working with an established Aircraft Charter and Management Company with a full Part 145 Repair station, as they look for a self-motivated individual for a qualified Chief Inspector 145/135 MXC based at the Gary/Chicago Airport (KGYY). The Chief Inspector will be responsible for generating, maintaining and updating Repair Station QC manuals, forms, and training manuals. Check the workmanship, material, standards and procedures of our client's maintenance activities. Performs inspection of work accomplished by airframe and powerplant technicians.  Maintenance Planning and Control for 135 aircraft/managed fleet.  This position will report to the Director of Maintenance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform inspection functions of the repair station as outlined, in accordance with the Repair Station Quality Control Manual
  • Ensure familiarity of all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, manufacturer’s procedures/recommendations, and other pertinent data as it relates to the task or item of work being performed
  • Accepting incoming products procured for use by the Repair Station and will ensure that those products are approved or acceptable   
  • Perform preliminary inspections on all aircraft and/or components that undergo maintenance to determine the state of preservation, necessity for functional test and to document any obvious defects
  • Assure that all inspections are properly performed on all completed work and work orders
  • Responsible for the inspection entries on forms and work orders used in the Repair Station
  • Make progressive and on-going inspections at various stages of Teardown, Overhaul, and Repair of all Aircraft or Components received by the Repair Station for service or inspection
  • Responsible for checking completed Work Orders / Workbooks for work performed
  • Perform scheduled and systematic evaluation audits for the Repair Station, Approved Vendors and Approved Maintenance Facilities to ascertain its abilities and procedural compliance to RSQCM and GMM policy and guidance
  • Provide training and technical assistance to others
  • Provide Maintenance Control duties for the 135 Charter
  • Reviews the General Maintenance Manual, Manufacturers’ Manuals, publications, AAIP’s and specific (RII) items if applicable, to maintain a high level of knowledge and proficiency to accomplish RII Inspections.  Ensure all manufacturers’ technical service documentation and maintenance procedures are in order to ensure continued airworthiness of assigned aircraft
  • Reviews 135/Managed aircraft projected due lists and provides aircraft status updates to Director of Maintenance on a regular basis
  • Develops aircraft 135 conformity packages and become active member of team representing GJC during FAA review and approval process. Schedule regular update meetings to provide staff conformity progress reports
  • Manage CASS program and facilitate audit, data collection and CASS meetings
  • Assist with planning, management and oversight of maintenance events, including travel and regular oversight when the aircraft is in maintenance at remote locations for extended periods of time
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance
Job Requirements:
  • Must possess an A&P license
  • Have at least 2 years maintenance experience or factory training on Challenger 300/350, Citation XLS, Hawker 900XP, Bell 206, 407 and 429 preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years in corporate aviation
  • Minimum of 5 years inspection experience
  • IA preferred
  • RII Experience and Qualified
  • Experience in an FAA Part 145 and 135 environment

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required. Associate degree in Aviation Technology a plus.
  • Must have good interpersonal and verbal skills to communicate with customers and employees.
  • Basic computer skills.  Experience in aviation maintenance software programs.  Flightdocs preferred.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
