Mechanic Helper - Pt. Mugu, CA

The Mechanic Helper assists the mechanics in servicing, repairing, and overhauling aircraft and aircraft engines.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist technicians during preventative maintenance and performing duties such as battery removal and filter replacement.
• Assist technicians in servicing and repair of aircraft and aircraft engines.
• Assist in dismantling, repairing, or replacing parts and assemblies such as engines, plumbing, and hydraulic systems.
• Perform routine duties such as furnishing materials, tools, and supplies to mechanics.
• Lifting and holding materials in place for technicians during maintenance procedures.
• Inflate tires, refill oil and fluid reservoirs, and grease aircraft parts as needed.
• Basic aircraft interior maintenance such as cabinet trim, carpet changes, and lamp replacements.
• Assist technicians with tooling and equipment to perform routine maintenance.
• Operate power cart for engine starts.

• High School Diploma / Equivalent GED certificate.
• Mechanically inclined.
• Experience in aircraft repair is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Talk and/or hear regularly throughout the day.
• Sitting, standing and walking throughout the day.
• Climb or balance; bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed.
• Use fingers and hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms throughout the day.
• Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently.
• Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus throughout the day.
• Work in hangers, flight line, or in a repair shop environment involving confined spaces, hot, noisy, and wet conditions throughout the day. 
• Move and use ladders and/or scaffolds as needed.
• Must be able to pass background/drug screen. EOE.
