Job Summary
As a Mechanical FEA Engineer, you will be part of the mechanical engineering team with various assignments by program teams for development of complex mechanical solutions that meet the challenges of a tactical computing environment. Your role will consist of conducting Finite Element Analysis (stress and/or thermal), evaluate mechanical designs and recommend appropriate design approaches based on results.
Job Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Perform detailed stress and thermal Finite Element Analysis (FEA) (such as modal, transient, CFD, SRS)
- Support testing of products, systems or subsystems (Vibration, Shock, Thermal)
- Deliver detailed reports of FEA/Testing results and provide proposed product improvements
- Perform and support initial and ongoing design reviews
- Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems and services
- Support and participate in technical activity
- May use computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software in the performance of assignments
- Ability to work independently under supervision of others
- Provide regular reporting of progress and status
- Responsible for completion of assigned task on time and meeting technical requirements
- Review customer specifications and requirements, and under direction, develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable
- Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems and services
- Support the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements
- Develop prototypes to retire key development risks as directed
- Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required
- May participate in preparation of less complex proposals
- Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
Job Requirements:
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field
- Finite Element Analysis Experience
- Desired that candidate is proficient in thermal and structural FEA
- Desired that candidate has experience with instrumentation equipment (DAQ Systems, accelerometers, strain gauge, etc.)
- Ability to use ANSYS, BK Connect and Ansys Icepak or Fluent CFD software
- Ability to use PTC CREO software for mechanical design
- Desired experience in mechanical electronic packaging
