Job Summary

The Manager Quality Control invests in the future of Southwests People by managing and establishing performance standards for inspection personnel, including the Quality Control Supervisors. This role will be responsible for the administration of policies and procedures in the Quality Control Department to satisfy our Commitment to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for Quality Control and act as a point of contact for inspection personnel. The Manager Quality Control is detail oriented and a strong communicator who is excited to be part of meaningful initiatives at Southwest.

Responsibilities
  • Provides feedback and growth opportunities to aid in the Development of QC Supervisors for the next level of leadership
  • Provides guidance for the QC Supervisor team and the QC department
  • Oversees department scheduling and assignments of both Supervisors and Inspectors
  • Assists other departments within maintenance to correct discrepancies on completed documents and provide feedback to the individuals involved
  • Reviews and submits inspection procedures and methods which would improve the quality of maintenance
  • Reviews procedures and work instructions with other departments to determine Quality Control requirements
  • Manages and establishes performance standards for inspection personnel
  • Provides examination and authorization of inspection personnel
  • Assures Inspectors possess the necessary qualifications for execution of their duties
  • Assists with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Liaison involving Maintenance and Engineering including FAA correspondence and reports
  • Develops & implements inspection procedures and methods which would improve the quality of maintenance
  • Maintains Inspection Authority List designating qualified inspection personnel
  • Manages the receiving of parts and materials used in the repair, alteration, overhaul of SWA aircraft, components and parts
  • Complies with directives set forth by the Sr. Manager QC, or Chief Inspector/Director of Quality Control
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee&39;s Leaders

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to reason and make sound and timely decisions
  • Advanced knowledge of Maintenance Procedures Manual, aircraft related documents and manuals, aircraft paperwork procedures such as log page and non-routines, and CFR 121 applicable FAA regulations
  • Ability to effectively communicate and or present issues and solutions to all levels of leadership
  • Ability to read and understand technical documents and their ability to meet intent of the maintenance program
  • Ability to adjust schedules based upon changing priorities
  • Ability to identify the right people for the task and provide on-going coaching to ensure strong Teams
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to delegate as well as lead multiple tasks simultaneously and follow up through completion
  • Proficient - Manufacture maintenance requirements, FAA Regulations and Regulatory programs, Airworthiness Limitations (AWLS), Electrical Wiring Interconnect Systems (EWIS) and ETOPS
  • Proficient - Using Microsoft Office products, multiple computer technologies and windows based applications
Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED

Experience
  • Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading team(s)
  • Fully functioning broad knowledge in:
    • Transport category maintenance
    • Quality Control experience in the airline industry
    • Conducting inspections at 121/135 carrier or military aircraft

Licensing/Certification
  • Required: A&P License
  • Must be able to obtain a SIDA (Secured Identification Display Area) badge and meet all local airport requirements

Physical Abilities
  • Must have corrected 20/25 vision in at least one eye and adequate hearing to facilitate inspection process
  • Must be able to work in a confined or cramped space for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop
  • Ability to perform work duties from limited space work station/desk/office area for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Other Qualifications
  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be able to travel with some overnight stays, up to10 of the time
  • Must be able to work any shift including Days, Evenings, and Graveyards at any time

Pay & Benefits:

Competitive market salary from $151,400 per year to $168,200 per year* depending on qualifications and experience, with opportunity for future pay increases based on performance and market movement. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
