Job Description:

Southern Airways/Mokulele is seeking dependable, professional individuals to lead our Maintenance department in our airport station. 

General duties include:

  • Direct and assist assigned Mechanics as necessary to accomplish all maintenance functions, in accordance with company maintenance manuals, policies and procedures, and applicable Federal Aviation Regulations.
  • Perform On-The-Job technical training on aircraft maintenance practices, company policies, safety procedures and general information where required.
  • Ensure proper and legible completion of all company forms for all work assigned and performed, and correct disposition processing upon completion.
  • Maintain the work areas, buildings and materials, which are, utilized for aircraft maintenance, in a safe, clean and operative condition.
  • Shall be required to sign for his own work and co-sign for the work of other Mechanics in the section; however, signing shall not relieve any other Mechanics in the group from the responsibility for the work they performed.
  • Conserve and protect Southern Airways funds, property, equipment and materials.
  • They shall ensure that Mechanics assigned to them adhere to Southern Airways published Policies and Procedures, to include manufacture instructions and Southern Airways Task Cards.
  • Has RII and Airworthiness Release Authority.
  • Any other duties as requested by direct reports.

FLSA STAUS: Non-Exempt

REPORT TO: Director of Maintenance and/or Assistant Director of Maintenance

SUPERVISES: Mechanics

Job Requirements:
  • Airframe and Powerplant license
  • 2 years of industry experience
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Computer skills – ability to learn reservation and phone systems, proficient with a PC
  • Basic math abilities
  • Ability to work within a 24/7 operation including holidays
  • Ability to pass 10-year background check and pre-employment drug screen as required by airline industry regulations or company policy.
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. per the Immigration Act of 1986

The ideal candidate:

  • Must provide leadership and direction to station staff.
  • Ensures the effective utilization of personnel and equipment.
  • Serves as the liaison to the corporate headquarters.
  • Must be familiar with and able to enforce corporate and regulatory standards.
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be professional in appearance and manner and set a good example for staff.
  • Must be experienced in diffusing stressful situations.
  • Must be detail oriented.

Physical requirements:

  • Must be comfortable lifting/moving 70lbs.
  • Must have physical dexterity sufficient to perform repetitive tasks and motions, including bending at the waist and knees, squatting, kneeling, crawling, twisting, and sustaining those positions for extended amounts of time.
  • Must have sufficient vision and ability to safely perform duties.
