Aircraft bonding experience desired.Applies advanced technical skills and knowledge in the performance of inspection and evaluation of incoming aerostructure parts, components and subsystems of operational aircraft for overhaul and/or repair through interpretation of original equipment manufacturer technical data and Company technical data to ensure compliance to FAA regulations and customer requirements.Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:Provides complete evaluation of and defines the processes for reconditioning, repair or replacement of aerostructure parts, components and subsystems of operational aircraft that are varied but generally not complex of products and processes requiring some skill and experience.Identifies incoming items and determine their overall condition. Determines the proper inspection criteria and obtains the appropriate technical data to determine the inspection points and processes required to completely evaluate the item for repair.Reads and interpret blueprints, standard repair manuals, overhaul and repair manuals, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) technical documentation such as Service Bulletins, Illustrated Parts Catalog, Airworthiness Directives and customer supplied technical data. Makes an independent judgment concerning repairs, with the focus on providing both the customer and Company with the best and most economical repairs and repair processes.Performs inspection of incoming items to appropriate standards using precision close tolerance measuring tools such as scales, micrometers, calipers, height and depth gauges. Works from engineering drawings and other technical documentation.Determines the condition of the item and the extent of the wear or damage. Determines the manufacturing and repair processes required to bring the item to FAA airworthiness standards.Requests engineering review, analysis and disposition of damage or wear as required. Consults with engineering to navigate and initiate Engineering Work Orders and prepare a preliminary Bill of Material for the required repairs.Ancillary Functions and Responsibilities:Performs other duties as required. These duties may require assignments in job classifications and departments other than the primary assignment.JOB QUALIFICATIONS:EVALUATORFormal Education, Training and Work Experience:Experience may be substituted for the formal education and training requirements in this section at the discretion of management. High School graduate with technical school related to aircraft or manufacturing processes preferred, and a minimum of four (4) years of experience as an aerostructure mechanic, aerostructure inspector or evaluator, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Level of Supervision Required:The level of supervision required described here is representative of those that must be met by a Stakeholder to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Works under general supervision. Work is reviewed for completion to quality standards and schedule requirements. May adapt techniques and tools to meet special needs with approval from management.Special Skills, Licenses or Job Requirements:Demonstrate competency in applying the following in performing normal job duties. Use of close tolerance measuring tools such as scales, micrometers, calipers, and depth gages. Read, comprehend and interpret blueprints, technical manuals and other technical documentation issued by the FAA, the Company and original equipment manufacturers.Physical Requirements:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Stakeholder to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The Stakeholder must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolding, platform ladders or other mechanical-elevated devices. Overtime is a requirement of the job. Must be able to work in excess of eight hours per day and five days per week.Work Environment:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a Stakeholder encounters while performing the essential functions of this job: While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
