Overview

The Director Training Center Operations establishes strategies and direction for the Training Center to ensure that the operations are continuous, effective and in compliance with the Company’s goals, strategies, and all applicable regulatory requirements. This role is specifically responsible for the oversight, development and execution of all aspects of the Training Scheduling and Training Records departments.

Responsibilities
  • Oversees the daily workflow of Training Records and Training Scheduling. Establish performance metrics for Training Records and Training Scheduling in alignment with department and Company goals.
  • Drafts, implements, and executes policies and procedures to facilitate a quality customer service experience throughout Training Records and Training Scheduling.
  • Establish service levels and requirements for each department to ensure that productivity remains high.
  • Evaluates organizational efficiency across all related functions and makes necessary decisions to maximize productivity and operational effectiveness.
  • Remain current with industry trends and Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) to develop and enforce business strategies that are aligned with safety, compliance and competitive advancements within Flight Operations.
  • Develops and enforces process-based training safety assurance system as it relates to Flight Crew training records, record retention and training scheduling to ensure compliance with company requirements and FARs.
  • Develops and enforces department objectives as it relates to Flight Crew training scheduling, Instructor and Check Airman scheduling and student currency to remain complaint with Collective Bargaining Agreements and FARs.
  • Develops and implements Quality Management System (QMS) procedures as described in the Training Center Standard Operating Procedures Manual (TCSOPM).
  • Serves as a liaison between the Training Center and other departments within Flight Operations and across the Company.
  • Provides oversight to Flight Crew Reports (FCRs) as it relates to Flight Crew Training Records and Training Scheduling. Support flight crew resolutions as it relates to Training Center issues and inquiries.
  • Provides oversight to the administration of all ground, simulator and flight training provided to Flight Crew ensuring the highest degree of safety, quality, security and integrity is maintained at all times.
  • Reviews and interprets FARs, Company policies, Collective Bargaining Agreement(s) as it pertains to Training Records and Training Scheduling. Provides guidance and insight on the applicability of these guidelines as it relates to Flight Crew training records and training events.
  • Serves as the manual content owner for the Training Center Standard Operating Procedures (TCSOP). Serves as the primary owner of the Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings (AAWH) Master Training Schedule. Communicates updates and revisions to training events and Flight Crew training schedules.
  • Serves as the joint manual content owner for the Flight Operations Training Manual (FOTM). Incorporates revisions within area of responsibility based on administrative precedent actions, interpretations of policies and proposed changes initiated through FARs.
  • Analyzes, prepares and recommends annual department budget and is accountable for compliance with approved budget.
  • Review monthly sim usage and expense reports and evaluate department expenses for cost control implementation and tracking.
  • Provides constructive and timely feedback in accordance with the Performance Management Process to all direct reports.
  • Coach, mentor and develop direct reports across all levels, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities. Monitors performance and takes action to correct any shortfalls.
  • Serves on the MIA Emergency Management Team as a Flight Operations liaison
  • Serves as the primary vendor relationship manager by building and managing relationships with Part 142 training centers, Pan Am International Flight Academy (PAIFA), Miami Dade Department of Aviation.
  • Ensure that vendors meet or exceed their contractual obligations which contributes to the efficiency, productivity and success of the training operations.
  • Partners with Human Resources departments on implementation of additional programs that have direct impact on Flight Crew.
  • Ensure company related programs for Flight Crew are in compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and other Company manuals, this includes but is not limited to, Uniforms, Medical, and Catering/Amenity. Union Committee liaison to facilitate and address concerns and other matters.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by the Senior Director Flight Procedures, Training, and Standards
Job Requirements:
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience required.
  • Minimum of 9 years’ experience in Flight Operations Part 121 Air Carrier Operation
  • Previous experience in a managerial position in training with a 121 carrier
  • Advanced organizational leader with ability to inspire and motivate others to attain Company goals
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with specific crew management software application. Advanced knowledge of Airline Information Management System (AIMS) is a plus.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be resourceful; a high energy individual with the ability to effectively multitask
  • Must have a thorough understanding of FARs

Special demands:

  • Minimum 30% travel required

Salary Range: $114,000- $154,000

Financial offer within the stated range will be based on multiple factors to include but not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset.
