Job Description:

Aviation Search Group is partnered with a confidential client in the Dallas Fort Worth area to help them identify a Director of Purchasing and Procurement. Our Client is growing and expanding their logistics team with this position. They seek a highly experienced and motivated individual with the ability to lead strategic sourcing efforts, manage suppliers and vendors, and fulfill the procurement needs of multiple departments including Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO), Flight Operations, and others. 

  • Develop the overall purchasing strategy for the company and implement processes.
  • Maintain excellent supplier relationships through frequent communication.
  • Negotiate supplier contracts; review supplier quality and price competitiveness.
  • Recommend and implement cost reduction plans to increase profitability. 
  • Establish cost budgets for the purchasing department. 
  • Liaise with program stakeholders and establish appropriate protocols for procurement of items for both planned and unplanned maintenance tasks.
  • Work with maintenance on forecasting and planning initiatives.
  • Supervise the vetting of all purchase requisitions before tasking purchasers to make any buys on behalf of the company.
  • Directly manage the strategic sourcing of components
  • Provide feedback to leadership on the recommended path of sourcing (i.e., purchase, cannibalize, or exchange) on high-priority/high-value parts.
  • Engage directly in vendor issues and the resolution of such.
  • Oversee the administration of PBH/SBH programs (OEM maintenance programs) for fleet aircraft including consignment and core return.
  • Monitor usage of inventory for global sites.
  • Ensure the proper levels of inventory are maintained for all programs to maintain operational availability rates.
  • Assess risks and coordinate mitigation strategies (i.e. parts obsolescence/supply chain challenges).
  • Mentor, train, and indoctrinate new employees within the purchasing organization. 
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Purchasing Management, Supply Chain Management, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • A background in aviation procurement or supply chain management preferred
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing strategic sourcing initiatives and driving cost savings
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and vendors
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Familiarity with MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) operations and aviation industry procurement practices preferred
  • Proficiency in procurement software and systems, including ERP systems and procurement tools
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and levels of the organization
  • Willing to travel to meet supplies both nationally and internationally (5-10% travel)
  • Currently live in or are willing to relocate to the Dallas Fort Worth Area
