The Spacecraft group produce some of our most exciting and innovative products, like the Rosalind Franklin Rover and the Ariel spacecraft, as well as earth observation satellites. You will be assigned to one of our ground-breaking projects and ensure all that the functional avionics products are successfully delivered.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM

As the Functional Avionic lead, you will have the responsibility and authority on Functional Avionics design, development and validation process for OQOTOC delivery of the Functional Avionics products.
The Functional Avionics Design and Development team consists of the functional architects integrated in the project core team and the development/verification teams in charge of all detailed architecture design & developments:
- Flight and On-board Control Procedures
- Central (on-board) S/W
- AOCS Algorithms (AOCS Modes and Control Laws)
- Functional Verification Infrastructure

- Data Base (data population and tool update, if required)
 

In addition the Functional Avionics lead perimeter includes the functional avionics level tests (Functional Verification Execution).
The Functional Avionics design and development team also supports the project for managing the external customer and supplier interfaces.

Main Duties

• Development: Define and monitor the development and V&V of the Functional Avionics (FA) in accordance with the Project design, development and validation plan
• Key Input Data (KIDs): Manage operationally the interfaces, KIDs, interdependencies and maturity between FA contributors and FA external stakeholder and facilitates the local trade-offs/ mitigation approaches for OQOTOC adherence
• Consistency: Ensure the consistency in the detailed design of the functional components and their cost effective implementation & validation including the necessary data base entries
• Changes: Support the project in the management of Changes (from the customer or due to internal changes in the Avionics System reference baseline) to minimize the cost and schedule impacts at project level whilst answering the mission & system requirements. Optimize the schedule & cost impacts of Changes to be implemented at Functional Avionics level. EAC: Reports on EAC & schedule adherence (situation, risks & opportunities, mitigation actions, additional savings)

ABOUT YOU

• Demonstrable knowledge of all Functional Avionics domains, substantiated by a relevant experience on previous programmes on at least 2 Functional Avionics domains.
• Previous experience of team management
• Previous Work Area Manager experience (or similar Work Package management, i.e. including Technical but also Cost / Schedule management)
