The Project

The MQ-28 is the first military aircraft to be developed in Australia in 50 years. The program has been developed by Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) in co-ordination with a broad group of suppliers, including Boeing Aerostructures Australia and BAE Systems. The MQ-28 DEF6014 project delivers a development pathway for the Commonwealth of Australia for the MQ-28 System.

The Production System pillar of the project has cost and execution authority for the Quality, Supply Chain, Production Engineering and Production activities in support of the contracted development activities, focusing a broad team (including suppliers) to produce and deliver aircraft and other flying hardware for the program.

The Production System pillar also supports extension scope planning and the wider team will contribute to the Program Integration Offices efforts related to plan, define, and secure follow-on work.


The Opportunity

Boeing Defence Australia is seeking a Senior Project Manager to project manage the Production System pillar of the MQ-28 DEF6014 program.

The role develops the strategy and implementation plan for production of the MQ28-Ghost Bat program. In this leadership role you will report to the Director, MQ-28 Production System and will lead, integrate and co-ordinate the aforementioned groups to action the Engineering Design and produce and deliver physical aircraft and other flying hardware into the Operations & Test program, as required by the program schedule.

BDA operates a matrix organisation, and the role will have a small number of direct reports (including project management specialists and production personnel), but will distribute and control a significant proportion of project funding.

The role will also include interfacing and integration with the MQ-28 Program Integration Office, the Engineering team, the Operations and Test team, and several key suppliers (including Boeing Aerostructures Australia) and functional staff and leaders related to the scope.

Responsibilities include conducting briefings and report outs to high level customers, executives and stakeholders.

This role can based in Brisbane or Melbourne

To be considered for this role you will have:

  • Applied experience leading complex aerospace production programs - Design for Manufacturing, Quality, Suppliers, Production.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of Boeing project management (particularly schedule and RIO), and financial systems.
  • Highly developed communication skills, including interpersonal, presentation, and analysis/reporting skills.
  • A Bachelors degree in engineering, business, business administration, commerce, change management or a related field with relevant industry qualification.
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects in a matrix organisation, especially including the ability to influence and achieve change through collaboration and expectation setting.

Relocation will be considered for the right applicant.
