Key Responsibilities:

The Manager - Supply Chain Inventory Forecasting leads a team with modeling and statistics background, and is responsible for spare part forecasting enhancements, including expendable and rotable components to support the Maintenance operations of United Airlines fleet. This role is accountable for identifying enhancement opportunities, improving spare parts forecasting, and streamlining the forecasting process. This position will collaborate with Digital Technology partners and Supply Chain groups, including inventory planning, vendor management, components/engines shops, warehousing and logistics functions. The role will work closely with Data Science team to identify trends from parts usage data, transaction data and operations data, and to provide suggestions to support the Supply Chain organization initiatives.

  • Identify enhancements opportunities to improve forecasting model performance, implement and streamline the process
  • Ensure alignment and prioritization with business objectives and initiatives – helping business groups make faster and better decisions
  • Support strategic Supply Chain initiatives with analysis accompanied by useful recommendations
  • Develop project plans and ensure timely project completions
  • Handle and mentor team to develop in their roles and skillsets

What’s needed to succeed:
  • BS degree in a quantitative field such as math, statistics, operations research or engineering
  • Minimum two years of lead experience in Statistical modelling role.
  • Understanding of supply chain functions including sourcing/procurement, vendor management, inventory planning, warehousing and logistics
  • Exhibits an analytical approach to problem solving with attention to detail and a sense of urgency
  • At least three years of experience in an analytical, statistical modeling or process improvement-oriented role in supply chain, aviation, manufacturing or related industry
  • Familiarity with database models (e.g., RDBMS, Hadoop) with high-level proficiency integrating complex transactional data in relational databases using SQL
  • Knowledge of scripting programming languages (e.g., R, SAS, Python)
  • Familiarity with Machine Learning techniques
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., TIBCO Spotfire, Tableau, Palantir Foundry, MS-Power BI or equivalent)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience communicating and visualizing complex analysis results to business leaders
  • Strong project management skills
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
What will help you propel from the pack:
  • MS degree in a quantitative field such as math, statistics, data science/machine learning and/or MBA
  • Experience in statistics, industrial engineering or related field involving solving complex business problems
  • At least two years of airline experience
  • At least two years of supply chain experience
  • Familiarity with maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) functions
  • Familiarity with the airline industry
  • Strong background in one or more supply chain functions
  • Experience with machine learning techniques
  • Familiarity with ERP systems
  • Familiarity with multi-echelon supply chain models
  • Familiarity with spare parts inventory planning methods
  • Programming experience in a scripting language such as Python, R
  • Familiarity with optimization modeling tools and techniques
  • Experience with developing simulation techniques (i.e., Monte Carlo, discrete event simulation)
