The Manager Technical Operations (Tech Ops) Supply Chain Management (SCM) invests in our Purpose by leading a Team responsible for managing the materials crucial for fleet campaigns and aircraft modification initiatives at Southwest Airlines. This role defines strategy and drives process improvement through detailed analysis of operational metrics and ensuring supplier compliance with contractual terms and regulatory requirements. The Manager Tech Ops SCM is a skilled communicator and strategic problem solver who looks forward to collaborating across various Departments to making a meaningful impact on Southwest Airlines by enhancing material availability, minimizing operational disruptions, and decreasing unscheduled aircraft downtime.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direction to Leaders and administration for processes and supporting activities utilizing various technical systems to direct the planning and execution of supply chain operations in support of maintaining a 14 CFR Part 121 Carriers fleet.
  • Serves as the primary representative, knowledge expert, and business owner for all supported functional areas.
  • Foster strong relationships with other Leaders across the Enterprise to facilitate the planning and execution of material support and address critical or emergent issues.
  • Proactively develop professional Employees and Leaders, facilitating their growth and enhancing their operational capabilities.
  • Create an environment of exceptional Customer Service, promoting accountability for operational performance and driving continuous improvement.
  • Partner with internal and external auditing teams to ensure Departmental practices comply with regulations as a Key Sarbanes Oxley Control Owner.
  • Serve as the business owner for all assigned strategic initiatives and ensure they are completed in scope, on time, and on budget.
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives in the areas of supply market intelligence, supplier certification, contract negotiations and compliance.
  • Prioritize and develop cost-saving initiatives, assign resources, and ensure they are successfully completed.
  • Perform other job duties as directed by Leaders.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Advanced knowledge of aviation supply chain management/lifecycle, sourcing/contract negotiations, and Technical Operations
  • Advanced Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
  • Skilled in verbal and written communication with the ability to articulate views concisely and convincingly from Employees to Senior Leaders
  • Ability to build strong relationships across the Department or with internal/external stakeholders and collaborate to solve operational and strategic challenges
  • Knowledge of process development, evaluation, revision, and rollout with the ability to coach Team members on more effective compliance and performance improvement
  • Skilled in assessing the performance of yourself, other Leaders, individuals, or the organizations to make improvements by motivating, developing, and directing People

  • Advanced ability to read and comprehend various technical documentation such as: Complex engineering documents, Service Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives, Component Maintenance Manuals, and Illustrated Parts Catalogs
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED

Experience
  • Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading team(s)
  • Fully functioning, broad knowledge in:
    • System administration with various technologies (e.g. SAP ERP/VIM, Maintenix, Aeroxchange, QuickBase database management, Alteryx, Tableau, Salesforce, Workiva, Service Parts Management)
    • People Leadership with a focus on change management and leading or sponsoring a Team through process changes and continuous improvement initiatives
    • Aviation supply chain management/lifecycle
    • Sourcing and contract negotiations
    • Project management
    • Process improvement
    • Budgeting
    • Technical Operations
  • Preferred experience in supply chain management within the aviation industry or a similar operational environment

  • Preferred knowledge of relevant procurement methods such as strategic sourcing, inventory management, and supplier development.

  • Preferred experience using inventory management software and ERP systems

  • Preferred experience in budget development and financial analysis.

  • Preferred knowledge of regulatory requirements related to aviation operations and supply chain management
