SUMMARY:

The Manager Program shall be responsible to the Director Maintenance for the overall operation of the aircraft maintenance department.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure each individual assigned to perform maintenance under his/her program is qualified to work on the assigned customer program and is capable of performing the job properly. This involves assessing if the individual meets the operator’s required training and the individual’s job function against the employee’s specific skills and knowledge.
  • Provide guidance and direct supervision to Project Managers and departmental supervisors assigned to their program to perform maintenance, modification, repair or alteration of customer aircraft or parts by the Repair Station.
  • Ensure that each individual aircraft project is efficiently managed to assure timely completion of the project while meeting the airworthiness and quality standards required by the Repair Station, FAA and the customer.
  • Train and assist subordinates in the use of proper procedures, methods and practices to be followed in each respective duty to assure an efficient project that meets the Repair Station’s, FAA’s and customer’s standard for airworthiness and quality.
  • Ensure that all shop equipment and tools are available and maintained in a serviceable condition.
  • Maintain the Repair Station premises in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Be directly responsible for the proper and efficient use of all personnel assigned to their program.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:    Good working knowledge or the ability to acquire skills in the following:

The ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, by presenting ideas and giving instructions/guidance to subordinates, co-workers, supervisors and outside agencies in a manner that instructions are carried out and requested information is obtained; ability to motivate and lead a staff or team of subordinates to obtain goals, higher productivity and quality work; the ability to delegate and prioritized work effectively; creative; persuasive.

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

 

SUPERVISION: The incumbent normally performs the duty assignment at his or her discretion and is limited only by policies set by administrative or legislative authority.  Total end results determine the effectiveness of job performance.

 

INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS: A strong level of interpersonal skills is required to maintain an effective relationship among employees, various departments, management and the public.

 

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT: Essential responsibilities are performed in a climate controlled office but not limited to the office.  Must be able to cope with stress and mental exhaustion due to the pressures of accomplishing set goals, meeting short deadlines, maintaining numerous projects simultaneously, employee confrontations and long work hours.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

 

EDUCATION:   Associate degree or equivalent in training, education and/or experience.

 

CERTIFICATION:  Airframe and Powerplant license.

 

EXPERIENCE: 10 years in commercial maintenance, 3 years in a supervisory capacity.
