Our Opportunity:

• Reporting to the Domain Quality Manager, this role provides Quality Assurance (QA) to assigned projects, bids and products, delivering cost effective, efficient solutions to meet Customer / partner requirements and Thales business objectives.
• Liaising with associated disciplines, functions and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), key activities include: QA planning and surveillance, internal/external auditing to national standards, attendance at project meetings, reviews and events, Customer liaison and Supplier / Partner surveillance and the provision of QA expertise and advice.
• The role may cover operational (manufacturing), software, hardware and systems engineering QA activities and include root cause analysis, defect analysis, process improvement, preventative action and process management activities.
• This role may include occasional working at other Thales sites in the UK and abroad and also work off-site at Customer or Supplier establishments.
What the role has to offer:

Project & Business related tasks

• Plan and Implement Quality Assurance on assigned Projects in accordance with Company Reference system, Contract and applicable Regulatory Requirements.
• Act as QA source of knowledge within the team with relevant experience of sector specific and industry standards.
• Generate monthly QA Advices for allocated Project and Bid Reviews in accordance with the Guidance provided and Reference system
• Lead project QA activities to ensure that Quality tasks are carried out in accordance with agreed Work Packages.
• Plan and perform project audits and surveillance activities in accordance with the Project Quality Plans and audit strategy.
• Effective generation, assurance and management of non-conformances, with realistic stage target dates and actions agreed with NCR owners. Timely raising of Alerts when appropriate with escalation, as required, in order to reduce risks to the business.
• Facilitate professional QA advice/guidance to company staff, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Act as the customer’s representative inside the project or bid team and look to maximize customer satisfaction and support any actions required as a result of a complaint (formal or otherwise) or performance deficiency.
• Support Customer Surveys and work with functions to establish any necessary improvements plans, resulting from customer feedback.
• Facilitate customer complaints to closure with projects.
• Assist team leaders to train, develop, coach, induct and share knowledge with new starters and assist in the development of existing staff.
• Perform analysis of Quality related metrics and initiate improvements as applicable.
• Identify trends, issues, and opportunities associated with processes and/or products that may impact on the business.
• Contribute & enhance the developing knowledge base within Quality by engaging and building relationships with internal and external contacts.
• Participate in operational function’s Process Effectiveness Reviews to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Company processes and develop maturity.
• Work with Discipline Maturity Leads to identify areas for improvement within the project/product/bid and facilitate improvement activity.

• To support and contribute to the decision making process of the Quality team in support of the overall business objectives.
• To increase “customer” satisfaction in the provision of quality services. To facilitate an ever increasing uptake of best practice throughout the business.
• To be responsible for the effective implementation of the Quality processes.
• To support the continuous improvement of the Quality processes.
• To support any Quality Transformation plans, maturity assessments and associated improvement.
• To assist in formulating budgets, plans, programmes and targets for the area of responsibility.
• To operate in a constructive and co-operative manner with the key relationships noted above and to maintain Thales’s Key Values.
• To maintain an ethical approach to business in line with the Thales Ethics Policy

• Detailed knowledge of current quality and related working practices and standards.
• Qualified auditor or similar experience.
