Responsibilities

The Senior Manager, Emergency Response & Recovery, manages the emergency response and humanitarian assistance policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with regulations and company standards. The Sr. Manager will conduct training sessions and drills, oversee relationships with third-party partners who support Spirit’s emergency preparedness and response and manage all relevant documentation and plans. They will also manage Spirit’s Special Assistance Team (SAT) program. The Senior Manager, Emergency Response & Recovery will report to the Director Business Resilience & Safety Assurance.

 

  • Serves as a subject matter expert when interfacing with Airport Authorities, First Response Agencies, and Civil Authorities about Spirit’s Station Aircraft Emergency Response Plan, as needed.
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Leads the strategy and execution of Aircraft Emergency Response training sessions.
  • Manage the Spirit’s Special Assistance Team (SAT) Program to ensure the Emergency Response program and Special Assistance Team is compliant with the AVIATION DISASTER FAMILY ASSISTANCE ACT and other international laws.
  • Ensure the Emergency Response Manual (ERM) is up to date to reflect regulation changes.
  • Ensure the company’s emergency response plan, manual and checklists are routinely reviewed and updated.
  • Ensure effectiveness of the emergency response plan.
  • Liaise with Spirit’s Emergency Response Business Partners for employee relations needs.
  • Ensures satisfactory emergency preparedness at Spirit airport stations throughout our system, including our international destinations.
  • Participate, facilitate, and observe station Emergency Response exercises at Spirit locations.
  • Develop, maintain, and provide Emergency Response training.
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with industry committees and governmental agencies. This includes the NTSB, DOT, FAA and American Red Cross.
  • Monitor industry trends and incidents. Be aware of changes in regulatory policies and requirements, that may impact company’s emergency response planning.
  • Deploy as a member of the Emergency Response Team to any destination that has a serious incident or accident as part of the logistical and/or humanitarian response effort.
  • Ensure equipment and materials required for Emergency Response use (ER bin contents and supplies) are available for deployment in the event of an emergency.
  • Be the SME for internal communications regarding emergency response trends and updates for leadership.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate. (e.g., emergencies, change in workload, rush jobs or technical developments.)

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Emergency Management preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 5-7 years of experience in Emergency Response, Aviation, preferably in 14CFR Part 121 air carrier operations: ground operations, quality, other operations, safety - or a combination thereof.
  • Experience in emergency response at a 14CFR Part 121 air carrier preferred.
  • Experience facilitating training sessions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent Problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience presenting to NTSB or other external entities.
  • On call as required for critical incident events
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs.
  • Must be proficient in the English Language, Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

  • Domestic & International travelapproximately 25 of the time.
  • Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
