Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is looking for a Senior Mission Director for the Customer Support Operations Center based out of Seal Beach, CA.

The Mission Director oversees day to day activities in the Operations Center and strategizes Boeing support in response to technical issues experienced by our customers and focuses on the day to day missions, identifies escalation requirements and communicates with executive leadership.

The successful applicant will have the ability to think outside of the box for Aircraft on Ground (AOG) solutions through combinations of parts, people, tooling, troubleshooting, and engineering solutions. The role will require a combination of technical expertise, project management and leadership along with an ability to communicate effectively to team members, internal and external customers and senior management. You will manage AOGs and provide technical issue resolution for Boeing aircraft and help improve dispatch reliability.

This is a non-management position with no direct reports. The mission director is an individual contributor within the organization that leads the team during daily operations.

Please note this position requires flexibility to work a nonstandard schedule, “7days-on/7days-off” (12-hour workdays) holidays and weekends, and second or third shift hours to support the Boeing fleet operating 24/7 365 days per year.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads inter-organizational teams to develop and execute proactive AOG recovery strategies
  • Monitors fleet status and operation issues
  • Maintains complete awareness of high priority AOG status
  • Develops action plan, coordinates resources and work flow to provide solutions for AOG situations
  • Escalates issues where needed and leverages enterprise wide solutions to provide timely and accurate response to customer inquiries
  • Writes daily executive level status updates on AOG issues
  • Host in-person and virtual meetings with internal and external stakeholders to drive AOG resolution
  • Anticipates opportunities to leverage company products and services
  • Monitors the performance of the Operations Center team and tracks key performance indicators
  • Serves as the main point of contact for high visibility AOG issues

This position is expected to be 100 onsite in Seal Beach, CA.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • Able to work variable shift including nights weekends and holidays
  • Communicates effectively to all stakeholders including customers and executive level leadership
  • 3 + years of working with airline customers
  • 3+ years of experience in commercial aircraft
  • Strong oral communication, written communication, and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license (or equivalent license from other country regulatory agency such as EASA B1/B2)
  • Proven experience with airplane systems to troubleshoot in-service problems. Flight ramp experience on Airplane system troubleshooting
  • Airline maintenance operations experience
  • Airplane production experience involving systems troubleshooting
  • Project management experience
  • Ability to interpret drawings, system schematics, wiring diagrams, and other technical documents
  • Technical research agility on multiple airplane models
  • High-level understanding of supply chain and ability to get parts to customers
  • Experience working with organizational leaders to develop and implement plans and objectives to meet requirements

Typical Education/Experience: 

Level 4

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years related work experience, Master+7 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Level 5

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years related work experience, Master+12 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

  Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range: Level 4- $122,400 - $165,600

Summary pay range: Level 5- $150,450 - $203,550
