What you can expect as a Shift Manager at West Star:

 

The Shift Manager will be responsible for the administration and coordination of all maintenance operations for the assigned shift.  This position will oversees maintenance operations, resolve internal and external disputes, coordinate activities among various departments to complete work assignments, and perform special assignments as required

 

Must be able to work nights - Friday-Sunday; 6:00 PM to 07:00 AM

 

You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS including:

  • Responsible for all aircraft maintenance activities for assigned shift
  • Attends shift turnover meetings
  • Coordinates project details with Quality Personnel, Team Leads and Parts Department
  • Reviews squawks generated and produces estimates that will be submitted for customer approval
  • Submits customer approvals and facilitates parts procurement in collaboration with the Project Coordinator Management 
  • Ensures project estimates stay on track
  • Monitors hours applied to the work scope to ensure alignment with proposal and estimate sheets
  • Meets with customer, pre and post event, and communicates with customer throughout event
  • Serves as point-of-contact for assigned shift 
  • Manages the maintenance updates, internally and to the customer, for assigned shift
  • Makes decisions based on safety, qualifications and company regulations for all technicians assigned
  • Ensures all employees are being managed fairly and consistently 
  • Conducts employee performance reviews
  • Reviews and assists with employee’s time sheets
  • Approves and submits employee paid time off 
  • Maintains a look-forward approach for setting up manpower, equipment and parts for the next shift
  • Monitors all company e-mail traffic to help make informed decisions
  • Leads a culture of continuous improvement in procedures, processes, and internal and external customer satisfaction to improve cost, schedule, and quality of processes
  • Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English
  • Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

 

What you’ll need to bring with you:

 

Your Education

A High school diploma or equivalent are required.

A&P license is recommended but not required.

A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory. Aircraft specific factory training is preferred.

 

Your Experience

5+ year’s prior experience working in corporate aircraft maintenance is recommended.

Experience with Microsoft Office 365 products required

Actual work experience must include troubleshooting, use of specialized tools, ground support equipment, and the use of aircraft maintenance manuals, parts catalogs, technical reports and forms

Experience supervising two or more-line maintenance technicians

Attend work every day as scheduled to include overtime and weekend assignments. 

Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.

Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day. 

Must perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.

Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.

Maintain customer oriented work habits.

Direct the work and flow of multiple projects.

Supervision of team members in daily operations and duties.

Attention to detail with a focus on safety and quality of work

Other Particulars:

 

Physical Requirements                        

Lift at least 70 lbs.

Routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting.

Routing or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.

Personal computer operations on Apple and Microsoft products especially Outlook, Word, and Excel spreadsheets

Work on elevated platforms (up to 40 feet in the air) using fall protection safety gear

Working Conditions                              

The majority of work will be accomplished in a hangar environment which can include very hot or very cold temperatures

Work outside during aircraft runs will occur.

Varied positions in and around the aircraft.

 

The hourly rate for this position generally ranges from $64.00 to $74.00. Actual hourly rate will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, shift, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other forms of compensation include health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid vacation.
