Job Description:

Our Treasury function at Emirates Group is responsible for managing the Groups financial risks and ensuring that we have the liquidity it needs to meet our financial obligations. The Treasury team also works to optimize our financial performance by managing the foreign exchange, interest rate, and commodity risks. The successful candidate will analyse financing proposals and provide support in the negotiation process of the financing contracts. Manage the financing negotiation / documentation process and ensure funds are available at aircraft delivery/redelivery date or execution date for non-aircraft financings. 


In this role, you will:



  • Provide detailed analysis of the proposals for aircraft financing, project financing, corporate bonds and other financing facilities for the Group, highlighting key issues in a comparative matrix to be used as a management decision-making tool.

  • Prepare detailed analysis for aircraft purchases, lease extensions, and aircraft residual value risk management, including remarketing and repurchase options. All analysis to incorporate risk and benefits, comparison with other options available, key variables, etc.

  • Provide support in the negotiation phase of financing mandate, detailed contract documentation and manage process to ensure funding for timely aircraft delivery. This involves handling certain issues directly with the banks / aircraft manufacturers (such as finalisation of aircraft price, cash flows, termination values, insured values, and amortisation schedules and payment mechanisms).

  • Manage aircraft delivery/redelivery process, coordinating with various stakeholders such as Group Legal, Engineering, Accounts Payable, Aircraft manufacturer, financiers and external counsel to ensure there is no delay in aircraft delivery/redelivery due to non-availability of funds.

  • Ensure all financial obligations / benefits / options / notices with corresponding dates relating to financing transactions, sale and lease backs and aircraft or engine purchase agreements are recorded in the Treasury Management System, been approved based on the limits defined in the Corporate Treasury Policy and aircraft financing structures are accounted as per IAS (International Accounting Standards) on delivery.

  • Prepare the due diligence, application and other support documents as needed by the VP-Financing for meeting investor, export credit agencies and financial institutions requirements for their ongoing credit assessment of Emirates Group.

  • Analyse aircraft financing long term debt and lease commitment portfolio on an ongoing basis to identify the blend of the interest/lease cost based on fixed and floating interest rates. Monitor the short and long-term interest rate trends. Analyse appropriate fixed and floating interest rate mix based on the interest rate trend.

  • Analyse economic viability of foreign currency / interest rate hedging structures proposed by the relationship counterparts from time to time. Ascertain whether the hedging proposal under evaluation qualifies for special hedge accounting treatment under IAS. Report analysis results outlining the proposed deal, economic benefits, risks, appropriate financial market parameters, accounting treatment on a one page, which would be used as a management decision making tool.

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with all internal and external stakeholders. Internal stakeholders are GL, Outstations Finance & Risk Management, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Cashiering and FAMs. External stakeholders are various relationship banks, PwC, Internal Auditors and Government Auditors.

  • Develop motivated professionals and coach them to deliver innovative solutions suitable to the nature of Emirates Groups operations.

Job Requirements:

To be considered for this role, you must meet the below requirements: 



  • Finance & Insurance/Treasury : 8+ Years

  • Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) 

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant / CPA Professional experience in Finance within a large corporation or financial institution, preferably within a commercial Treasury department.


You'll have an edge, if you have: 



  • Knowledge of aircraft financing structures preferred.

  • Strong analytical background.

  • Expert knowledge of Excel and other office automation software.
