Role Summary

The Employee Relations Partner is responsible for investigating workplace matters and resolving employee relations issues. This includes leading investigations, providing consultation to leaders and interpreting policies and procedures. This role also provides general support to the HR team at Horizon Air. As an individual contributor, this role exercises judgment to provide recommendations to address employee concerns, process improvement and leadership development to support a positive and engaging company culture.

Key Duties

  • With limited direction, complete thorough investigations including researching, assessing, report writing, and making recommendations for resolution.

  • Provide support, guidance and feedback to employees and managers in the resolution of employee relations issues.

  • Partner with Managers, Legal, Labor and Union Representatives, and Business Partner team to solve a variety of workplace issues.

  • Take initiative to develop solutions to performance issues for employees below the manager level.

  • Apply working knowledge of HR best practices and Horizon’s Employee Policies to field HR-related inquiries and requests and interpret policies and procedures.

  • Support HRBP team projects for various HR-related and cross functional initiatives, including development and implementation of company-wide people programs, ensuring that change management best practices are applied.

  • Monitor and analyze employee relations trends for root causes of individual employee or collective workgroup issues and recommend solutions.

  • Make recommendations on team processes and procedures and participate on project teams or HR teams as needed or for development purposes.

  • Provide operational and transactional support to the Horizon HR team and leaders.

  • Build constructive and collaborative relationships with critical stakeholders and peers to share information, influence change, and drive resolutions to improve the employee experience and leader capability.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 2 years of experience in Human Resources or related area.

  • Bachelor’s degree, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.

  • General knowledge of investigation process and performance management.

  • Knowledge of employment law and/or employee relations process.

  • Strong verbal and written communications and documentation skills with ability to succinctly and neutrally write fact finding reports and outline allegations, actions and outcomes.

  • High energy, positive presence along with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Innovative, apolitical, resilient, fact-based, and a creative solutions-focused mindset, with ability to thrive in a rapidly changing, collaborative environment and to manage conflict.

  • Proven ability to work independently and to prioritize competing priorities.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other Microsoft products.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Minimum age of 18.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • At least 1 year of experience conducting investigations.

  • Knowledge of federal/state laws relevant to ethics, compliance and risk management.

  • Advanced knowledge of laws and regulations related to leave and disability programs.

  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification.

Salary Range

$69,000 -- $103,400 / year

Salary Details

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
