JOB PURPOSE

To perform functions assigned in the refueling and defueling servicing of aircraft support.

Vehicle and equipment upkeep, Inspection and first response for fire protection of fuel areas.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Demands:  Requires sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time.  Requires frequent bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and reaching above shoulder level.  Requires occasional crawling, climbing, lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling weight up to 50 pounds unassisted.  Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.  Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Equipment Operated:  Aircraft Fuel trucks, ground servicing equipment including tugs, tractors, hi-lifts, trucks, servicing carts and test equipment, hand tools.

Work Location: Fuel farm, Aircraft maintenance hangar, flightline, aircraft storage areas.

Potential Hazards:  Exposure to high intensity noise levels, extreme changes in temperature, materials identified on Safety Data Sheets, desert wildlife and insects, working at heights or around moving machinery.

Protective Equipment Required:  Goggles, safety glasses, face shields, ear protection, aprons, gloves safety toe shoes or boots.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Job Functions:

  • Research technical data and perform refueling operations IAW ATA 103 Standard, testing and calibration of fuel components and company special tools and ground equipment in accordance with applicable maintenance manual, FAA regulations and Ascent Aviation policies and procedures.
  • Monitor Bulk fuel storage including receiving, dispensing, inventory, and quality control
  • Maintain fuel farm & trucks Inspections Records; Daily, Weekly, Monthly Quarterly, Annual
  • Performs aircraft fuel sales to Company, Customer, Military, and transit aircraft.
  • Fuel and operate GSE equipment.
  • Perform runway and taxiway inspections, FOD pick up and sweeping.
  • Inspects fuel systems and identifies leaks or other discrepancies.
  • Fuel Sample testing prior to all defuel operation prior to putting into truck or fuel farm system.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties to the aircraft fuel system. Annual filter changes, hose replacement.

Marginal Job Functions:

  • Ensure Customer requirements and needs are met.
  • Escort and assist in parking of all incoming aircraft.
  • Support DOD aircraft by loading, unloading, and providing GSE support.
  • Ensure that all work performed is done in a safe manner. Participates in activities to protect employees from harm and maintain safe working conditions.

  • Employees shall participate in safety education programs and train to recognize hazards on the job and how to report them promptly.  As a condition of employment, each member of Ascent Aviation agrees to report errors, incidents, and accidents honestly. 
  • Any employee who observes an unsafe action or condition should bring it to the attention of supervisors and managers. Certain conditions may allow the employee to easily correct a condition or situation.
  • In all cases, the employee must notify his/her supervisor of any actions taken by the employee.  The first employee to observe an accident or incident should take immediate action to alert appropriate responders/supervision and to take reasonable steps to prevent further injury, or damage. 
Job Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  Ability to organize and plan work adhering to deadlines; working knowledge of aircraft refueling techniques; attention to detail and mathematical skills; ability to read, write, and understand the English language and to follow verbal and written instruction; ability to safely drive and operate a standard shift automotive vehicle and other applicable equipment; ability to work with or without supervision.

Education/Training:  High School diploma or equivalent required.  Post-secondary education or training in aircraft refueling airport support operations or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience is preferred.

Experience:  Two to four years’ experience in aircraft refueling preferred.

Certificates/Licenses: Current valid Arizona driver’s license with a clear driving record for past three years required

Other: May be required to work at both Marana, AZ and Tucson, AZ locations as business needs dictate.
