We have a flight school fleet of 25 aircraft comprised of Cessna 152, 172, 182, 206, and Diamond DA42s.  We have a diverse staff of 45 flight instructors having adventures on this busy airfield. We are looking to produce the most well-rounded and prepared aviators and are looking for a capable human to lead the charge. We are seeking an experienced Full-Time Assistant Chief Flight Instructor to join our amazing team! The Assistant Chief is directly responsible for leading our team of instructors and the overall training and safety of students. 

Required Duties:

  • The Asst. Chief will assist with creating, maintaining, and implementing a training/mentoring program and setting standards for flight instruction.
  • Assist in managing the CFI journey and CFI well-being.
  • Oversee the certification process for students.
  • Ensure that all instructors meet company and regulatory requirements that either meet or exceed FAA standards.
  • Ensure all flight operations are conducted safely and in compliance with FAA regulations.
  • Conduct initial and recurrent standardization of flight instructors in accordance with FARs 61 and 141.
  • Perform student progress checks, end-of-course checks, and student training records audits.

Pay Range is DOE (Dependent on Experience). 

Job Requirements:
  • FAA CFI, CFII Certifications, as well as Commercial Pilot Airplane Single and Multi-Engine Land.
  • Meet 141.36 Assistant Chief Instructor requirements for the Private, Commercial, Instrument, CFI, and CFII courses of training.
  • Must be able to pass initial knowledge and proficiency checks, as well as annual flight knowledge and proficiency checks.
  • Previous Part 141 teaching experience
  • Current FAA third class or basic medical
  • Thorough understanding of FAA regulations and flight instruction standards
  • Must be detail-oriented with regard to student record-keeping requirements and staff training records.
  • Ability to manage classes and teach effectively.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to be coachable and receive feedback to support development.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • FAA MEI Certification
  • Knowledge of TFBO, Microsoft Office 365, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for aviation and a commitment to student and instructor success.
Salary Range: $29.00-$33.00 (DOE)
