Flying our new fleet of Eurocopter EC-135s, you're part of a tightly knit, highly experienced, and high-functioning trauma and transport team that delivers unparalleled patient care and safety in a state of the art, flying ICU.  This base pilot role will support our Ukiah, CA location with inter-facilities transports and scene call services.
 
Who succeeds in this role?
You are a professional helicopter pilot with at least 3,000 hours PIC. Through your solid experience and consistent good judgement, you’ve clocked thousands of hours of complex VFR and IFR flight scenarios with irregular variables, such as; EMS air evacuation, mountain or hazardous terrain, night, heavy lift/construction/utility, or undeveloped and confined space operation.
 
Your overall success in this position requires the ability to balance demands of the EMS transport and patient needs with the realities of flight planning, crew dynamics, and environmental factors. Your excellent crew resource management skills give you the ability to quickly establish positive, trusting interpersonal and professional relationships. You easily give and receive input from your team and are accountable for the consistent communication and leadership that ensures the safety of patients and your crew.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities of EMS Pilot as outlined in the CALSTAR General Operations Manual
  • Performs all administrative or other duties per CALSTAR policies, procedures, or as assigned by the Lead Pilot.
 
Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for the position of CALSTAR EMS Pilot a person must possess the following aviation qualifications and experience.
  • FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate - Rotorcraft-Helicopter
  • Instrument Rating - Helicopter 3,000 hours total helicopter flight time as PIC
  • 1,500 hours turbine helicopter time
  • 150 hours Unaided Night
  • 100 hours of actual or simulated instrument time in helicopters
Preferred Experience:
  • Civilian EMS, Mountain Flying, Night Vision Goggle, and Multi-Engine Helicopter.  
  • FAA Airline Transport Pilot Certificate – Rotorcraft – Helicopter*   
*ALL CALSTAR IFR Captains must obtain their Airline Transport Pilot – Helicopter certificate within 12 months of assignment as an IFR Captain.
