Job Description:
SUMMARY: Assists with the writing, editing, and development of technical publication supplements, including but not limited to, illustrated parts catalogs, maintenance manuals, wiring diagram manuals, maintenance task cards, and engineering drawings. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interacts in a professional manner with external and internal customers to ensure accuracy of information in technical publication supplements.
  • Creates and implements changes to technical publication supplements using the technical publication documentation system.
  • Assists in the review of Engineering Orders and drawings/data to identify what revisions to technical publications are required.
  • Organize material and complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology. Assist in laying out material for publication.
  • Study drawings, specifications, mockups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedures, and production sequence in detail.
  • Coordinates with maintenance, engineering, or planning departments to research required changes and ensure the accuracy of the changes to technical publications.
  • Utilizes consistent format for technical publication supplements, work orders, and drawings through editing and standardizing of material prepared by ATS and other contributors.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist Engineering Management with additional tasks when additional business needs arise.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
  • Ability to assemble various documents using data provided by engineers, customers, vendors, etc. in a standard format.
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers. Good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Experience with a content management system a strong plus.
  • Ability to understand and promote the policies / procedures of ATS, and ATS engineering
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Advanced skills in FrameMaker required.
  • Aircraft technical publications and document publishing systems experience desirable (Adobe Framemaker and illustration editing experience particularly desirable). 
  • Experience using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop preferred.
  • Interpretation and use of aircraft manufacturing, assembly, and installation drawings, are preferred.
  • Familiarity with ATA iSpec 2200 (specification for preparing technical documentation in support of aircraft Maintenance and or modifications.
  • Experience in graphics design and blueprint reading preferred
  • Experience using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop preferred.
  • Experience using Microsoft suite including Visio. 
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
A two year Technical Degree in writing, or related area of study and previous experience writing aviation related documents is preferred, or a combination of education, experience, and aptitude (as determined by the Engineering Management).

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND DEXTERITY:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move 25 pounds.

ENVIRONMENT:
Normal business office conditions generally prevail. The noise level is usually low to moderate. Employee may be working in a cubicle, enclosed office, or open area. Floor may be carpeted or bare.
