| Job Desc: |
Overall Responsibilities: Plan, train and direct all activities within the avionics department to include necessary coordination with other departments within the repair station to complete projects efficiently, safely and on time. Key areas of responsibility: Responsible but not limited to:- Manage 20+ employees.
- Ensure that all maintenance activity is performed in accordance with the repair station manual and all aviation authorities and regulations.
- Coordinate so that the 24hour/365 day operation is scheduled properly with the correct amount of personnel, tools and support required.
- Ensure availability to the Avionics Department of the current approved technical data on all articles tested or repaired by the avionics department.
- Responsible for maintaining the Avionics Department‘s equipment and tools in a serviceable condition to include required checks and calibration.
- Promote team work and improve employee moral by requiring the highest level of quality and performance, promote training and improve standards and work processes.
- Perform inspection, make adjustment and repair, replace components, and correct any malfunction or deficiency with and without power applied to aircraft.
- Perform maintenance on customer aircraft in accordance with applicable technical data, SOPs and FAA/EASA regulations.
- Access, remove and re-install aircraft components including mechanical and electrical which obstruct their performance of assigned tasks.
- Assist with repairs on off-aircraft components such as switch panels, circuit breaker panels, and junction boxes.
- Perform basic mechanical and electrical removals and installations.
- Assist maintenance technicians in troubleshooting/operation of ground support.
- Document work performed.
- Fabricate parts/wire harness and install per engineering drawings.
- Assist in troubleshooting off-aircraft components such as switch panels, circuit breaker panels, and junction boxes.
- Coordinate with technical representatives, lab, and other personnel in resolving systems or component problems.
- Assist with completing engine runs.
Qualifications:- Current FAA A&P license.
- Minimum 5 years in a supervisory or managerial position.
- Strong leadership and motivational skills.
- Must have general familiarization (40 hour) course on one or more of the following aircraft types: B707, B727, B737, B757, B767, MD-80, DC-10, MD-11.
- Knowledgeable in FAR policies and procedures as well as interpreting FAA approved data.
- Must have the ability to communicate technical information to non technical audiences.
- Must be able to communicate effectively both written and verbally.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office as well as other program as needed.
